I love this clock! There's nothing worse than being awakened by a screeching alarm and fumbling in the dark for the button. This marvelous thing simulates a sunrise so by the time the beeper goes off you're ready to wake up. The default is 30 minutes before wake up time but you can reset it. The beeper is not too harsh and there are two other helpful features - sundown and security. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have.

I got this unit because I live in a northern region and have a hard time with the lack of light in Winter months. I'm a heavy sleeper, so the light alone wouldn't have woken me; but it was really pleasant to wake up to the soft light given that it was so dark outside. About six months before the warranty expired, the clock stopped keeping accurate time. The company told me to pack it up and ship it to Maryland for repair. I did, and in a couple of weeks the unit was back with a new clock inside. My impression is that most of the unit is for the lighting mechanism, and the clock itself is very small and not that high quality. The clock ran fine for several more months. Not long after the warranty expired, though, the clock started gaining time again. I could have mailed it back to Maryland and paid for the repair out of pocket...but it was more cost effective just to buy a decent digital alarm clock. The sunrise feature was nice, but, given that it lasted only a couple of years, it wasn't worth $100 more than my current run-of-the-mill clock.

This is a $120 light bulb - and only a 60 watt.
This is hardly wake up, sunlight type light.
This is going to sleep light.
The reading light claim is also false.
No one reads by a 60-watt bulb (even if it is surrounded by metal for reflective purposes).
Company is not customer service friendly. To wit:
1.) They require you to phone them for an RMA number.
Ever heard of email?
2.) They claim they want you to be satisfied, but then use every excuse to charge Restocking Fees.
A 10% restocking fee if you don't like it.
An additional 20% restocking fee if you don't print an RMA number on your box.
3.) They charge you for shipping fees - after offering free shipping - if you return an item.
Nice way to do business.

I only have two days experience with it so far but it is rather impressive. I've been in another part of the world for the last 6 years and only had to rely on the natural sunrise to wake up. Back in the upper midwest, morning comes very late. This will be the only alarm clock I've ever used that needs to be set LATER than expected. I put in a 10 minute protection for snooze and in case it took me time to wake up. It is so effective at waking me up without the shock and confusion I'm going to set it closer to my actual desired wake up time.

I had a cheaper other-brand version of a progression wake up clock for a couple of years, but it wasn't bright enough. This one... is bright enough! I use the sunset with white noise to fall asleep and wake up to the sun gradually rising in my room. Completely awesome. I wake up before the alarm can even go off. And I don't feel jarred away by some big blaring noise and I wake up feeling awake and not drugged. This is a must - I'm not exactly a morning person, but I'm able to wake up by 6am and not be the mommy-monster!
Yes, they are a bit more than your $10 Wal-Mart alarm, but it's worth every single penny!
