These have a slightly chalky taste which would be tolerable if they weren't so hard to chew. Ok for people who can't swallow pills as they can be chewed up in a few minutes.

This product should have been mailed in chilled container. It was sent via UPS on one of the hottest days in the Houston area- 106 degrees F!!!! It arrived as a melted mass of goo. I had to return it immediately. Wine merchants have it right- they only ship during cooler months and when it is even hiting at heat in the are they are sending to, they include a cooling ice pack to keep the product until delivery.

For "rich dark chocolate" this stuff is pretty ~meh~ in flavor. Don't get me wrong, it certainly tastes good, but it isn't at all what I would call "rich" or even really very "dark." In fact, I found the chocolate to be rather cheap and waxy.
That would be ok, I suppose, if these were cheaper and lighter. As it is, they are quite expensive and caloric for a supplement. If they had been a real treat to eat, I would have happily paid the extra price for them as a substitute for a piece of good chocolate, but honestly I would rather take a chalky calcium tablet that is inexpensive and then have a really nice piece of chocolate and still probably spend less than these cost.

One of my goals for 2009 is to get healthier and start paying attention to my body. In the course of the last couple of months, I have been tracking my nutrients and I realized that I was consistently coming in low on my calcium. I saw these at my local health food store and thought I would give them a try.
These are absolutely *amazing*! They are a very rich, very dark chocolate which is a great treat. The chocolates are very dense, so you get quite a heavy dose of that rich chocolate flavor. They are a little high in fat and sugar compared to other chews, but if you are looking for something to truly treat yourself that is also good for your calcium levels, I would highly recommend these.
