I keep forgetting by A. Holsinger (usa) 1 Stars

That this stuff makes my mouth break out in bleeding sores. every couple of years I see it at the market and think "hey, alcohol free, that looks like a great product". A couple of days later I am dumping it all down the drain. Perhaps I should put it in my car, as another reviewer noted it contains high amounts of propylene glycol, aka antifreeze. This chemical is so poisonous that its sale as anti freeze has been banned in many places. But go on and put it in your mouth it won't harm you. Maybe.

Good product, the taste is not great, but not bad. It does help morning bad breath and tartar buildup. I would like to try it from the beginning, after I get my teeth cleaned, to see how effective it is for tartar buildup. I like that it doesn't burn my mouth or lips, makes me more aggreable to using it several times a day.

This stuff is toxic! by jacksplat 1 Stars

The second ingredient is propylene glycol, which is basically antifreeze! Google it and prepare to be shocked that this company put this toxic ingredient into a product that goes inside our mouths. As soon as it does it goes into the bloodstream, not to mention the smalll amounts we swallow. Unbelievable that this company can get away with this. The FDA is worthless.

Alcohol and Sugar Free Mouthwash for "Dry Mouth" Consult your Doctor. by M. Allen Greenbaum (California) 5 Stars
December 27, 2008
When my (unpaid) personal products consultant, James, banged on the door, mumbling something about "Drymuth," I thought he had once again ran out of martini ingredients. I was wrong--he was asking about dry mouth, and whether I had ever had it. After all, he explained, chronic dry mouth is not only uncomfortable but can interfere with daily activities, can result in, or be a symptom of, more serious health problems, and may be caused by hundreds of different medications and treatments. (He must have Googled the term.) So, armed with James' firsthand experience, as well as information from Biotene's manufacturers (see their incredibly informative website at www.laclede.com) we proceed: Biotene is a mouthwash designed especially for symptoms of "dry mouth." (Again, see laclede.com, an impartial medical website, or your physician for more information). In any event, you may wish to consult with a physician because--as noted above--the condition may be a side effect of a medication (as it was in the case of my friend) or a symptom of an even more serious disorder. Biotene claims (on their bottle) that it "cleans and refreshes and helps in the healing of minor irritation." Ingredients include three enzymes and one protein that occurs naturally in saliva (lysozyme, lactoferrin, glucose oxidase, lactoperoxidase), and xylitol for sweetening. Therefore it contains no sugar or saccharin, but you might want to consult on xylitol. Glucose Oxidase and Lactoperoxidase generate "a constant flow of OSCN ions (hypothiocyanite), a strong antibacterial agent that should always be present in saliva." Lysozyme is an enzyme thats attacks bacteria, and lactoferrin binds with iron, thus inhibiting pathogenic bacteria. According to James, the taste is mild, not sugary or overly syrupy, and there is no stinging. A smaller size is available, but you'll pay much more per ounce. On the other hand, if you've never tried it before, and can't score a physician sample, you might want to try out the two ounce side first.

all right by me !!! by Matthew G. Sherwin (last seen screaming at Amazon customer service) 5 Stars

I was at the dentist yesterday and he gave me Biotene mouthwash to try. He said that it would help fight dry mouth--and it does! Already my mouth feels better. The natural sweetener of a dash of peppermint helps tremendously; and I believe it's worth the price you pay for it because it truly does fight dry mouth. This is helpful when you have a dry mouth because of medicine you take or chemotherapy you must have--or any other reason. The mouthwash uses a natural approach to keeping my mouth more comfortable--it uses "bio-active enzymes" to make my mouth much less dry. Biotene reduces plaque and bacteria buildup in your mouth, too; and I like that. This mouthwash is perfectly safe; but I don't swallow it. I don't recommend you do that, either! If you have questions ask your dentist or you can contact the manufacturer using their website or a toll free number they give on the bottle. Excellent! Overall, if you have dry mouth like I do--get this and try it out. I predict you'll be quite satisfied. You can order it here or you can find it in a drugstore.
