If you are looking for bone meal for your dog or cat's food, this product from NOW does have the correct 2/1 ratio of calcium to phosphorus. It is a wise idea to use bone meal with cod liver oil in order for the minerals to be properly and fully utilized. This particular brand of bone meal is not steamed but it is bleached. The company does test it for heavy metal content and this information is listed on the packaging. I choose this bone meal for it being free of heavy metals but am not thrilled about the bleaching.

This product is easy to work with and leaves no grit in the mouth. I can use the bone meal in my smoothies and no notice it at all. No constipation with this product either. I recommend this product to anyone who uses bone meal as part to their diet.

Well, I have no miracle news for this product, but use it successfully in conjunction with calcium citrate with no side effects. No dehydration, no weird tastes, small enough pill to swallow easily.
