If anyone should know if a lotion works or not, it's me. Every winter, I have to go through the itchiest, driest skin available, to the point where it actually looks as if I have a sunburn because my skin peels off. Gross, I know, but this stuff, well, Hallelujah! I can actually sit down and not dig myself half to death when I use this lotion. If you have bad skin like mine, the first time you use this, it will tingle, which goes away very quickly. After about 2 uses, yes, I said 2, you'll notice such a huge difference that you'll be hooked the rest of your life! Honestly, undeniably the absolute best stuff I've ever used. It heals up broken skin extremely quickly, and protects you from the cold weather. Doesn't have that "ooh, I have body lotion on" feeling when you put your clothes on either. Actually, it doesn't feel like you have anything on at all - just your clothes. And, if you're a farmer, be SURE to buy this for your chapped hands. It stings initially, but man, does it make your hands feel like they're brand new. Great, great, great stuff, you REALLY won't find anything better, been using it for years! Highly, recommend!

I really like this product for stopping itching. It does that in spades. There is a drawback however, the menthol really is "chilly" on your skin for the first ~15 minutes. If you've ever used Vicks on your chest, it feel like that only not as intense.

The only problem is the medicated smell or I should say menthol smell. But that goes away in about 10 min or so. I hate smells...I don't wear cologne and I try to buy stuff with very little or no smell. So if I can tolerate this smell that goes away than am sure other people can too.

I've tried itch relieving lotions from Aveeno & Lubriderm. They may be effective for mild itch relief but they don't come close to the instant relief I got from Gold Bond Medicated Extra Strength! This year is the first I've suffered all over skin breaking winter itch. If it continues or comes back I'll only buy Gold Bond Medicated Extra Strength from now on. I like the menthyl powdery scent and I think it's appropriate for men and women. Aveeno Skin Relief is has a milder scent but is half as effective. Lubriderm Intense Skin Repair is unscented but provided the least relief of them all.
