The BD BioCoat Angiogenesis System: Endothelial Cell Tube Formation is an in vitro endothelial tubulogenesis system composed of a specially treated BD Falcon 96-well black Optilux plate with clear bottom that is uniformly coated with BD Matrigel Matrix. The BD Matrigel Matrix is an ECM preparation composed primarily of laminin, collagen IV, and a number of growth factors. To ensure the reproducibility of tube formation assays, the preparation of the BD Matrigel Matrix is screened with respect to its ability to promote tubules. The concentration and volume are optimized for assay reproducibility. The assay performance is also enhanced by the specific surface properties of the 96-well plate that assure even coating and minimize meniscus formation. Plates are compatible with automated systems and fit most robotic and fluid handling systems. |
