Here are the benefits for tracking your total body composition with an Omron Full Body Sensor. What is the Bioelectrical Impedance Method? Bioelectrical Impedance (BI) is considered one of the most accurate and accessible methods of screening body fat and other body composition measurements in the privacy of your own home. Within seconds, BI sends an extremely weak signal to measure the inside of your body. Muscle, blood, bone and body tissue have high water content, which means they conduct the BI signal easily. Body fat, however, stores no water, so the BI signal is blocked or impeded from easily traveling throughout the body. The blocked signal (or high impedance) indicates the presence of more body fat. All I ask in a scale is for it to be consistent. This one is that. I've gone through several cheap bathroom scales over the years and every last one of them would give you a different number every time you stepped on the thing. With the Omron, I get consistent reliable readings time and time again.

Hate to do this, but.. just now got mine, put in the batteries, turned it on, set the calendar & clock, and tried it out.
It ran through auto-calibration, and then it says I weigh 127lb. That's nice, except I weigh 160-170. Wildly inaccurate = useless.

I wanted a scale that gave me more than just weight and BMI. Everyone knows BMI is bullsh**, anyway. I don't know how accurate the Omron is - I really have no comparison, but so far I am loving it. It's incredibly motivating to know your skeletal muscle and your body fat percentage! Looking at those numbers and watching them improve makes me look forward to working out. In addition, I am not normally a calorie-counter (possibly to my detriment), but seeing my resting metabolism in a tangible number suddenly helps me watch what I eat.
I strongly recommend this scale, if you were to get any scale. Muscle and fat and all of that stuff is different on all people, so knowing just a weight is not terribly worthwhile.
