tricky auto sensitivity by Kerry Rodgers (Dallas, TX USA) 2 Stars

I just got the Zircon CF12 and tried it for the first time. It has an "continuous automatic calibration" function. According to the instructions on the unit, you "scan over all circuit breakers" then "rescan until the green LED only lights over one breaker. Rescanning causes unit to learn which signal is strongest." I found this setup a bit tricky to use for the first time. It also means that it cannot be used to find other plugs on the same circuit, or to find wires in walls, as people do with the manually calibrated units. Also, the unit cannot really distinguish the two sides of half-width breakers. Maybe I'll like it better when I get used to it.

I can't tell you how nice it is to have one of these. Gone are the days when I would have to shout through the house, "IS IT OUT YET?!" as someone in another room waits for the lights to go out. Save your voice, and get one of these.

Best circuit breaker finder you can buy! by Anthony Coon (Niceville, FL) 5 Stars

This product works great! It is easy to use, reliable, and accurate. My co-worker and I used it at the office to figure out which outlet was connected to which breaker, and we made a schematic of it. We had first tried something from Lowe's, but it was nearly worthless since it didn't narrow it down to anything less than five possible breakers. But the Zircon CF12 usually got it to within one or two, and it was right on the money. It may be more expensive than the one you can buy at Lowe's, but it'll save you a lot of time and hassle in the end.
