I purchased this device to measure carbon monoxide on my sailboat. Nowhere in the description of the product does it state that it is not suitable for marine use. Upon receipt, the instructions specify that it is not for marine use. In addition, I wanted to know if it actually responded to carbon monoxide, so I intended to put it in the garage with my car running. Whoops, you cannot do that either. It has a notice that says that if you try testing the device as I intended, it will void the warranty.
Now, do you think I should use this in my boat to protect my family?
Probably not.

I bought 2 because new regulations in my state require one within 10 feet of each bedroom and I'd only had one on the first floor before. Good price, easy to install.

I ordered 2 of these because my local home improvement stores have been sold out since a recent scare in my area. They had plenty of more expensive combo models (CO/smoke, CO/heat, etc.) but all I wanted was this one. It is perfectly simple. Easy to install, easy to maintain and very economical. I assume it works because it hasn't gone off and I haven't woke up dead yet! The test button indicates it's working properly and the battery is easy to change.

We tested it on the truck's exhaust and it went off at about 60 ppm according to our digital CO Meter.
Which proves it works to Govenment Standards. This model does what it is supposed to do, the more expensive models just have more features that you probably will not notice on an everyday basis anyway.
This is the least expensive model we have seen that functions, so we hope at this price everyone should have one in their home and garage.
Please replace batteries regularly......

This was an added accessory to my smoke alarm at home. I have three of those--1 on each floor, so I needed to add a carbon monoxide alarm for added security. I hear it's one of the deadly killers in America and with a young son at home, I didn't wanna be without one. It's easy to install and its battery operated.
