I bought one of these same timers two years ago. I have had leaking around the plastic threads, using plumbers tape to try to solve that. This year I left it connected at the garden faucet and the temp. dropped to 28 deg one night for about 2 to 3 hours, then came up well above 32 deg. The unit was frozen and bulged out. Total loss. So don't keep this timer connected if there is any chance at all of the temp going to freezing for the night.
For the money this timer does what I need to do water my small garden spot with soaker hoses.
Best buy through Amazon.com and have bought several items through Amazon.com with free shipping or reduced shipping cost and the bottom line is better than many other websites for same articles.

I am now on the 4th try with this brand, and each different model replacement fails within a few months. Problems include: valves break down, display can no longer be set properly, one time the LCD display filled with water and now, the latest, the valve does not close or open fully, either leaking or no pressure in the hose. I sent 3 back to the company and each time I get the defective replacement. I give up. I vote for no bail out for this company.

The Nelson 56605 watering timer does a great job for very specific watering applications. For me, it fit the bill perfectly. With the drouth conditions in southwest Texas, the Nelson water timer helped water specific areas of my yard that were beginning to die from lack of water. Within a few days I could see the green coming back to the leaves and didn't have to worry with going out and turning on the sprinkler. Overall, a great product.

The unit worked fine until it rained! Then the timer went berserk. Sure enough, it had water inside, all over the circuit board. I would not buy another.

I bought this timer at Walmart for $22, which I thought was a good value. Its simple to set up and use. Once you set the time, you simply turn the knob to the desired watering option. There are options for every day @ 6am; every other day @ 6am; every day at 6am & 6pm. Then you have options for 15, 30 & 60 minutes of watering.
Even though it appears you don't have any other options except to water at 6am & 6pm, you actually do. I wanted it to go on at 8pm every day. So when I set the time, I simply choose a time that ensures it turns on at 8pm. For example, when I originally enter the time, if its actually noon I enter the current time as 10pm. In 8 hours, the timer will think its 6am. Since its actually noon when I set the time to 10pm, it will turn on 8 hrs later or at 8pm. Hope that makes sense.
Although it doesn't have as many timer options as my old Orbit timer, it's enough for my use. I have soaker hoses connected to it and it turns on once per day at 8pm to water my foundation. This might sound strange, but during the hot Texas summers, it helps prevent your foundation from shifting and cracking.
My only concern is that some reviews have stated they break within a year. I hope I have better luck!
