| Pretty cheap by lucky lang (Davenport, IA) 2 Stars July 12, 2009 It works, but not very well. If you have 100% darkness in the area you want to use it in then it works decent, but if there is any light in that room then you are out of luck.
| | Save your money by F. New (North Carolina) 1 Stars July 06, 2009 I purchased this product for my son's aquarium. He has some Glo-fish and we wanted a light that we could use only when we wanted instead of having to swap out the bulb in the hood. The light worked great....for about 2 minutes. It quit working suddenly. I thought that maybe the bulb had blown, but when I tried to remove the bulb, I couldn't get the cover off no matter how hard I tried. According the the instructions, one end of the light should have popped off to allow you to change the bulb. Short of completely breaking the case (which would have made a return impossible) I could not get the cover off. Very frustrating, but at least Amazon has a good return policy.
| | Started to smoke by T. ryan (Boston) 1 Stars June 08, 2009 Got this, put in the 8 AA batteries and it started to smoke and seemingly burnt out a circuit. I called amazon and they said they would pay for return shipping and refund my money, very nice.
This is not the first GE product that has been a total failure for me. Go with a LED flashlight IMO, more convenient and more dependable than a florescent.
