| Love it! by Mark A. Whiteman (Michigan) 5 Stars January 06, 2009 This puts out a huge amount of heat and we don't even run the central system when this is running, even when near zero outside.
It saves $100s a year in gas bills.

| | Dangerous device by HVAC Installer 1 Stars December 26, 2008 This is a dangerous device that cools flue gases - and can cool them beyond design limits! They can cause build up in the chimney and deteriorate masonry. The savings do not outweigh the long-term detriment.
| | This is a disaster waiting to happen by W. Lockwood (Washington state) 1 Stars December 17, 2008 It seems odd that there are no negative reviews for this device. We have a neighbor that put it on their stove and it seemed great at first. Then after a month they noticed black tarry goo dripping from it. They kept trying to wipe it up, but it kept getting worse, eventually really messing up their new pipes and stove top. Then around 2 months their stove stopped drafting and he asked me about it. We found the Magic Heat was plugged solid with creosote and is almost impossible to clean.
However, they're lucky. The chimney sweep told them some disaster stories with these devices. He said they cool down the flue gases to the point where the creosote condenses everywhere. If this creosote catches fire, it is almost impossible to put out. Fortunately that didn't happen to them, but they're are glad they asked him to come out and check the chimney. Sure enough, the chimney was full of creosote. Maybe this is an ok device for an old stove that has a very hot flue, but not on a modern wood stove that extracts more heat from the fire and has a cooler flue. For some, it's a huge waste of money.
| | magic heat by T. Kowalk 5 Stars December 31, 2007 I bought this for a gift and the recipients absolutely love it. The ease of installation and easy operation are awesome. There was an instant effect with the heating of their home. This is a terrific product if your thinking about it, GET IT, they are worth every penny.
| | This product works amazingly well!! by Christopher Fletcher (Berkshires MA) 5 Stars October 26, 2007 When we moved into our current 100-year-old house almost 14 years ago, sitting on top of our gas furnace was a weird contraption that looked like it had more in connection with a steam train than a modern heating plant. I thought it was a relic from the original builders. Or that it had been installed by someone back in the '60s - the name Magic Heat is in a typeface from the Groovy days, long gone.
But boy were we in for a treat! Our basement isn't heated - like most homes of its era, the furnace was "supposed" to keep the area warm. Maybe back in the days of shoveling coal into an inefficient boiler, it could do the trick. But nowadays, with more efficient and compact systems, a modern boiler loses less heat due to improved insulation. Hence, doing laundry or using the workroom in the winter might have meant needing a sweater on trips to the basement.
Our Magic Heat blower has performed wonderfully - fully automatic, it kicks on when the flue hits a preset temperature, and recycling otherwise-lost heat, keeps the basement nice and toasty. And that's in a basement measuring almost 1,000 sq! Plus, it runs quieter than one would think.
Two extra benefits can be derived from the use of these blowers:
1. Because the heat is not sent up the flue, your chimney will last longer.
2. You could theoretically run a flue horizontally from the blower face to another area - as long as you could occasionally access the cleaning rod.
Again, I 'warmly' recommend the Magic Heat blower reclaimer to anyone who enjoys saving money - or doesnt want to lose it up the chimney.
