Works great. Very sensitive and accurate. Simple to use and is well made. It is not made out of cast iron though. That is only its color.

I love this scale. It allows a full 5,000 gram weight instead of the 2,000 gram weight limit available on most scales. I use my scale to keep track of the weight of my pets, and the higher gram limit really helps. I love that it weighs in both grams and pounds, as I can easily see what a 3,000 gram object weighs in pounds with just the touch of a button. It's small design allows it to be easily stored, yet the display is large enough to read easily.

It's a great scale, sturdy and easy to use. The display is hard to read if you have something big on the scale, but that's not often a problem. My boyfriend insisted that a scale was necessary in the kitchen, and he uses it all the time now. I mostly have used it for weighing packages and keeping track of the weights of small pets.
As other reviews have said, the base is made of plastic; "cast iron black" is the color of the scale, not a description of its material. If you go look at other colors of this scale they have equally silly names, like "lily green" and "roasted tomato", it's just a little more obvious that those aren't things a scale might be made of.

OK. I'm a sucker for pretty looking utilitarian things. I guess that's really an oxymoron, but I still fell for it.
I love this scale. I use it mostly for dyeing and knitting purposes. Once I've knit a wristlet I can weigh it and the rest of my ball of yarn to see if I have enough to finish! It's so useful for things like that! Plus having a scale around is indispensable for dyeing wool. Which I love to do.
Five stars for doing what it's supposed to do and for actually being used instead of sitting in my studio collecting dust!

For starters, this is a pretty nice scale. The glass bowl is good looking, the scale is accurate and precise. However, calling it "Cast Iron" is a misnomer. It isn't made of cast iron, it doesn't look anything like cast iron, and it definitely doesn't weigh anything like cast iron. That's really my primary concern with the scale. It's a really lightweight black plastic, and easy to chip, nor does it have enough weight to really hold it in place on a slick counter top. If I had known the base material, I might have considered a different scale.
