This product does not live up to its claims. It arrived at my home with a prominent dent in the front panel. Despite the damage, it did work, but not for every use that it is intended. It crushes ice sufficiently to be used in the bottoms of serving trays to keep food items cold, but does not even come close to crushing ice small enough to be used in frozen drinks.

This product is exactly what I was hoping for. I work at a desk all day and sip water with crushed ice continuously so I am very critical of my ice crushers. I've been disappointed with most crushers in the past but this one is great. It crushes ice quickly and quietly and is the best one I've ever owned. If I had to come up with one negative, I guess I would say that you can't leave it unattened. In other words, you have to remain with the crusher while it is crushing to make sure there are no jams. If you put in too many cubes at one time, it will jam and you will have to reposition the ice. Because it crushes so quickly, I usually just feed it about six large cubes at a time. It seems to handle that with no problem. I use two full ice trays to fill my huge cup to the top with crushed ice and the whole process takes less than one minute.

I've been using this crusher for a couple of weeks and am very happy with it. Some reviewers commented on how big it is so I thought it would be huge, but it takes up about twice the counter space as my manual Swing-A-Way ice crusher and is probably 3 times the volume. By the way, the Waring is quieter in operation than my Swing-A-Way.
This thing is billed as a "large-capacity ice crusher", whatever that means. You can't dump a load of ice cubes in the hopper and let it run. The hopper doesn't hold that many cubes and you can't be shoving them down. I just toss them in one at a time and it eats 'em up with ease and fairly quickly. It takes maybe a half a minute to crush enough ice to fill my cocktail shaker and two collins glasses full. That's much faster than my Swing-A-Way and I can be mixing drinks while it's working.
As to the crushed ice it produces, I'm very impressed. It's almost like the ice is sheared or sliced as much as it's crushed - you get some varied shapes and sizes. Some reviewers don't like the non-uniform size of the crushed ice, but I like my iced drinks packed with ice and this is perfect. The larger pieces of ice don't melt so fast and the smaller pieces fill in the spaces around the larger ones. If you just want to chill your drink, like scotch on the rocks, use full sized cubes and they don't dilute the drink so fast. If the ice is crushed too fine, half of it is melted into the drink before you can serve it.
This is not a machine to make shaved ice for daiquiris or blended margaritas. If you've tried throwing ice cubes into your blender and been disappointed, you're not alone. Those fancy bar blenders can do it, but they cost hundreds of dollars. Crush up the ice first in your Waring, then toss it into your average blender and be prepared for a great blended drink!

Waring Pro Ice Crusher is just what I was looking for. The ice is crushed fast and fairly quiet. A lot quiter than my last ice crusher.

I do really like the ice crusher, but, at times, it gets jammed up when I put the ice cubes in. It has a big area to put in the cubes, but, I find that I can only put in one cube at a time and sometimes just the one cube gets held up. Then I have to shut off the machine and jostle it a few times to unplug the ice cube. Why such a big funnel when it will only take one cube at a time? I wonder.
In all, it does do a good job and is alot easier than the portable handle ice crusher that I was previously using. If one is not in any big hurry, it does work just fine.
