I bought one of these from Amazon last Christmas for my wife. It is incredibly easy to use, both the foil opener and the corkscrew. We consistently get compliments for it, and at least 6 friends and family members have purchased this exact model after seeing it work at our house. I FULLY recommend this to anyone: the charge lasts a long time, its far quieter than I expected, and is quick and easy to use. Takes about 6 seconds to take the cork off (by simply holding one direction of the button), and about the same to remove the cork from the opener (by holding the other). I plan on purchasing at least 2 more this year to give as gifts.
The only reason someone should buy an automatic opener other than this one is if you buy one of the expensive vacuum removers, if you don't want to poke the corkscrew hole in the cork (for hobbies/re-use/etc). Unless you have that specific need, buy this opener.
After re-reading this part, I should note that this opener doesn't break the cork into pieces or anything, it just inserts the corkscrew into one end of the cork in order to pull it out. I've opened at least 50 bottles of wine with this, not a single piece of cork has broken off into the bottle.Oster 4207 Electric Wine-Bottle Opener

This is one of the finest wine bottle openers I have ever used. There are much more expensive types, but this one does all it said it would do. I recommend it.

I bought two of these wine bottle openers for gifts two years ago. One went to my parents, and one to my husband. We've used it probably 1-2 times weekly since then and have NEVER had a problem with it. It pulls out natural corks and plastic corks equally well. It's so easy to use! I remember that we decided we had to open a bottle of wine right after DH unwrapped his gift. It worked so smoothly and I was so shocked, that I immediately dug through a drawer until I found my Pampered Chef wine bottle opener and promptly threw it in the garbage. My parents love theirs too. Unlike us, they don't keep it on the charger, but they can go several months between charges. (They're probably more like every-other-week wine drinkers.)
This is easily one of my favorite wine-related purchases I've ever made!

I asked for this opener last year as a Christmas present and was pleasantly surprised that it worked so well. I hate conventional corkscrews as they require a lot of work & sometimes the corks split & remain in the neck of the bottle. This little wine opener is the best present that I have received in a long time. I love it, and people always laugh when I use it. They know that I am a serious wine drinker. It does take up some counter space, but I only plug it in and charge it once in awhile. Does not need to remain on charge, so you can keep the charger in a drawer. Great gift to give too!!! I have had this since last Christmas, and it is still going strong!!!!
