EDITORIAL REVIEWS

Product Description
Many scientists and political figures theorize that global warming threatens world ecosystems from the Arctic to the Everglades with rising sea levels and radical climate changes. Ever wonder what that would look like? Wonder no more; simply pour a hot beverage into this mug, and watch Nevada develop a coastline. That's right, while you're sipping you can watch the effects of a 100-meter rise in sea level. Sure to be the most disturbing cup of coffee you've ever had. Mug is microwave safe but is not meant for the dishwasher.

I bought this a while back, everyone laughed, I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. And then the paint slowly went away. Now I have a blue mug...

This makes a fun little gift- but it's NOT dishwasher safe. Watch parts of the world disappear with your morning coffee. A little depressing but still a fun party trick...

Pretty cool toy by John Doe (San Diego, CA USA) 4 Stars

So, it's not dishwasher safe. It definitely works, and it gets the point across. The geography isn't perfect, e.g. a lot of island nations are already gone. But, when it gets hot, you can still see a faint outline of where the land was - which is good. Only drawback is you have to fill the cup to the top to get everything to change. (Basically, it's dark green paint that loses its pigment when it warms up.) And, you can tell where the heat-sensitive paint is, and where the "non-submergable" land is. But, it's still a cool toy. Note, it's showing a 100m sea level rise, which is an extremely severe scenario.
