Our newest dog "wolfed" all his food, probably because he came from a multiple dog rescue house. The Brake Fast bowl definitely slowed him down, but after a couple of weeks, he's figured out how to eat his kibble quickly around the pillars. The bowl does still keep him from eating his canned food quickly, although he gets it all over his face while eating. The fact that the bowl moves around on the floor is another good point, since he can't brace it against anything to help eat faster.

I have purchased several of these bowls...
I already had the medium bowls for my Cocker Spaniel and tall (the unusual 15" tall breed) Beagle. I got the small one for my Daschund mix. This review was generated when I purchased another small bowl for my newest (shorter - standard) Beagle.
For anyone that has a Beagle, you KNOW how fast they eat! These bowls do slow them down, but they still eat very fast. The good thing is that they have to take a few extra moments to dig around for the stray bits of dry food that hide around the posts in the bowl. This gives my other two dogs, the slow eaters, time to eat their food without the two Beagles hovering nearby waiting for them to walk away from the bowls.
My dad made an elevated wooden stand for the two taller dogs. The stand holds the two bowls on the platform by three prongs that fit into the cutouts in the bowls. This keeps the bowls from moving all over the kitchen floor while the dogs eat. Another reviewer pointed out that the bowls moving all over (due to lack of weight) is another thing that slows the dogs down. While that is a great point, I can't have the bowls moving into another dog's food area (it could create problems).
Recently, I purchased the large bowl. My Cocker eats very slowly and this bowl was making it too slow. So, I got the large one and it fits on the prongs of the stand my dad made, but my Cocker can get his entire nose/mouth in between the bowl posts. Since I did not want to move the feeding location of the Cocker, and the stand my dad made had the prongs, I could not use a regular bowl. The large one works perfectly.
Many have seen these bowls over the last year of me using them. I purchased some for my neice's dogs and it helped slow them down. They are German Shepard sized dogs and the large bowls work for them.
Until something better comes along, these bowls do slow down my Beagles. In the last year, my tall Beagle has not thrown up the food he just enhaled. That alone is a great sign that these bowls work!

This is a wonderful item for dogs who "Woof" their food down. They have to take their time and eat in a more sedate manner or have to work to get their food.

Look, this isn't hard to figure out. I've got a big dog that inhales his food way to fast for his own good. The brakefast slows his eating down. Thats all there is to it. If you're worried about your dog eating too fast, get this product. Nuff Said.

We ordered these bowls after an emergency trip to the vet in which our older dog,Sasha,inhaled a piece of food.The brake-fast bowl really has slowed him down.He can't inhale his food in 5 seconds like he used to. We ordered one for our puppy,Sputnik,as well.It's great because our puppy has to really work at getting all the food and the bowl moves around so he keeps nudging it around the kitchen. This may be annoying to some but we find it amusing.We put a mat under the bowl for our older dog to keep the bowl from moving.The large bowls are huge and not as attractive as the ceramic bowls we used to have but besides that,they are great.They serve their purpose quiet well.
