Simply put the product doesn't seem to attract Mosquito's. Although it does seem to attract other annoying bugs like yellow jackets, but bones or meat work better for that.
I won't be buying anymore of these they are over priced for the results.
I really can't seem to find a product that will get rid of these pesky things!

We bought this mosquito trap which used these octenol cartridges(mosquito attractant).
I was constantly amazed at how effective the trap is. I was cleaning the machine twice a week so that it did not get too plugged.
We enjoyed a summer on our deck without mosquitoes.
I did follow the trap placement recommendations in the directions, which I am sure is crucial.
Anyway: Before the trap with attractant(early summer) we were being chased indoors from mosquitoes. After the trap, after a couple of weeks, I did not see any more mosquitoes.
I definitely recommend it if you live in the Sierra Nevada. It worked well for me at 4500 feet elevation level.

I bought a Flowtran 40W several weeks ago. I used the trap with and without the Octenol. In my opinion, there is hardly any difference whether I use the octenol or not. The trap only works after sunset, and it seems like the light is the only thing that attracts the bugs. When I am out during the day working in the yard, I can see mosquitoes trying to bite me, but they don't bother to check out my trap+octenol set up. If they like Octenol, I should hear the 'zap' throughout the day, but I don't. I also read the government reviews ([...]) and it doesn't look like Octenol does any 'magic' to attract the bugs.

I know we have had a lot of rain this year and that provides a spawning ground for mosquitoes, but honestly, I notice no difference in the number of mosquito bites I get with the insect killer or without it. AND I ADDED THE MOSQUITO ATTRACTANT CARTRIDGES. TO SEAL THE DEAL. IT SEEMS TO HAVE NO NOTICEABLE EFFECT.

I can't say whether or not it works well. I don't really notice a big difference between having and not having them put on the Flowtron Mosquito zapper.
I think it is pricey for something that doesn't produce a clear result.
