I sent it back by Ted (Phoenix, AZ) 2 Stars

Not awful, but far from great. I sent it back pretty quickly. I really liked how all of the temperatures are displayed at the same time. But, I was grossly disappointed that it didn't store min/max temps. The display was pretty easy to read. The little plastic chips that come with it to label each section of the display were pretty weak (you're expected to write on the little plastic chip with a marker, then snap it in place.) Would have been nice to have some preprinted labels so it wouldn't look so cheap. It has a backlight for when it's dark, but you can't find the button to turn on the backlight in the dark, without pressing some other button you didn't mean to... Poor design in that area.

Very inaccurate humidity by Trevor S. Schultz 2 Stars
June 03, 2009
I bought this product to monitor my two humidors that I have. To me, it is vital that the humidity and temp are very accurate. The temp is very accurate for the main unit as well as the sensors. The humidity, however, is another story. I have a calibrated hygrometer which I double checked for accuracy using the salt test. Well I compared it to the sensors and main unit and they were all off significantly. (6%,9%, and even 15%) Normally, I wouldn't really mind that much as long as the percentages stayed incorrect by the same percentages all the time, but they dont. I did the test twice (both in a closed controlled environment), and the percentages varied by different percentages this time. I would not recommend this product for anyone that is looking for an accurate humidity measure, as I was for my humidors.

This porduct came with the extra lableing strips missing. When I called Oregon Scientific they told me to handle it with Amazon who in turn told me to handle it with the vendor. The vendor never responded to my several emails, In addition the monitor is impossible to read unless you press the light button thus making the usuall glance at a thermometer imposible. The sub sensors with the exception of one are not waterproof which was not stated in the advertisement of this product. It therefore the extra sensors only have the ability to measure indoor locations which was not disclosed in the product discription. A poor product with poorer product support. Never again

Pretty good for multiple location humidity & temp display. by J. Farrell (Warwick, RI) 4 Stars

We have an older home that had some mold issue we had to correct when we moved in. I have a weather stations and various temp/humidity sensors in the house but wanted a centralized unit that could display temp and humidty. The temp and humidty are very accurate (I used my high end Davis unit to compare data) from the base unit and remote sensors. I have been able to determine that having the bathroom exhaust fan for 10 min after a shower is inadequate. With this sensor, I know it needs to run for 20-30 minutes to bring the humidty below 60% again. Having this data was vital to prove to my wife that she needs to keep that fan on, which she hates doing otherwise. I have had no issues with the display clarity and think there is adequate backlight when the button is depressed. There are a few cons: 1) Unit lacks a max/min for temperature or humidity. I found this very surprising since Oregon Sc. has this on their other units that sell for much less. There's merit for keeping things simple but this was just being cheap on their part. 2) There is no trend indicator showing if temp & humidity are rising or falling. Again, this would have been very easy to program into the main display, but I'm getting picky. 3) Additional remote sensor prices are unreasonably inflated. This is just robbery. For the price of 2 additional sensors, you could buy a new unit with 2 remote sensors (unfortunetly, the outside doesn'ty let you change the transmission channel).

Fantastic for monitoring humidity in multiple locations by Luckydriver 5 Stars

I have humidity problems in my house and crawlspace so wanted something to monitor multiple locations. This unit lets you do that for 5 different areas! The unit itself plus 4 other sensors. You must use the one included sensor for the outdoor reading but the other sensor can be set to any of the slots on the machine. And if you need other sensors, just buy this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007QCT38/ref=cm_cr_mts_prod_img and it's much cheaper to buy that thermometer with the extra sensor for about 24 dollars vs 30 dollars just for the extra sensors alone! When I received all my sensors, I placed them next to each other and the main unit and sure enough, all read the same so they are pretty accurate. I've read complaints about the lighting on this and yes, no way will you see it in the dark or far away. And the backlight is pretty dim when you press that button. But it's on my table where I sit so is always plenty of light. Also the clock took overnight to synch up but no big deal there. One warning about the sensors is make sure you have a good set of tiny screwdrivers. The screws are very much a pain to get off for battery replacement unless you have the proper tool for the job. I haven't played with any labels yet but there is a packet in the box. Otherwise setup was easy and quick. If you are interested in the this unit in solar form, it should be out this year according to their website. As it stands now I'm happy with the battery unit I have. I highly recommend this unit for monitoring multiple locations. I've searched far and wide and not even 300 dollar weather stations offer this all on the same screen. Most every one makes you cycle through the sensors with a button. I received this in 2 days with the free shipping here on amazon! I'm very pleased. EDIT 6/30/09: Oregon notified me that the solar version is listed on their site for over $100 if you are interested
