Linger beside high alpine lakes that shimmer beneath glacier-covered peaks. Walk volcanic ridges formed over 200 million years ago. Rest amid brilliant blooms in high mountain meadows with views to the distant past. Stoll beneath the sheltering boughs of an old-growth forest. The production combines natural images, the sounds of nature and interviews with scientists who speak from their hearts about the wonders of the wilderness that surrounds Mount Baker. Mount Baker is an active volcano whose glaciers cut the sky. Across a gorge, towers Mount Shuksan whose ridges and spires are descendants of stone formed beneath an ancient ocean. They stand in a vast wilderness that was trust from the earth, then carved by time. Amid these rugged giants, waters lap at the shores of sheltered pools; trembling flowers grace steep slopes and brighten high mountain meadows. The sounds of nature's ever-changing symphony resonate in this land, where gentle joys unite with the remnants of the area's tumultuous past to create a unique and amazingly accessible landscape. This can all be found in northwest Washington, on the north side of Mount Baker. The one-hour video journey was created by Karen Edmundson Bean, an award-winning director/cinematographer of backcountry and wildlife productions. She is one of the few women to hold Director of Photography status in the International Cinematographers' Guild. Bean has backpacked through four continents and has been camping since her infancy. Her adventure and wildlife production company, Ambridge, is run from her off-grid farm near Maple Falls, Washington. "Walking Wild : Mount Baker, North" is just one of the award winning "Walking Wild" DVD series. Other "Walking Wild" productions include: Walking Wild : Whatcom County, | | Sales Rank: | 63,085rd |
