EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Album Description This compact disk brings together selections from David Parsons' recordings, Tibetan Plateau and Sounds of the Mothership. The recording includes eight compositions that evoke the sounds of remote, deep space through the soaring voices of Parsons' synthesizers in combination with classical Indian instruments. Inspired by the ancient Vedic songs of India, Parson's music lies at the well-springs of consciousness, tempered by soothing sounds from the physical world: the soft chirping of crickets, the calls of songbirds, and the restless sounds of the four winds. The music serves as a centering point for the mind amid the swirling vortex of the temporal plane. |

| Great relaxing music for rest, meditation or rejuvination. by T Mind (UK) 5 Stars November 25, 2006 I still have the tape that was given to me as a birthday present back in the 80's. It still does the same for me as it did then. I can't recommend it enough.
Great for slowing and settling the mood. Great for meditation. Great to help you go to sleep and awake refreshed.
If you buy this you won't be disappointed.
| | pioneer by C. Arnaiz Mateo (Spain) 4 Stars April 04, 2004 When I first heard this music, on a poorly recorded tape back in the mid 80's, it was the closest electronic music had got to transmit the grandeur of the Himalaya. The CD edition of the same recording was in some ways a disappointment. While the quality of the sound improved, several recording of Sounds of Mothership were left out. Having said that, the recording stands out because it broke new ground.
| | wonderful meditative music by Erik (Portland, OR) 5 Stars June 01, 2003 I had this album on tape back in '84. It was way ahead of the times when it came out. It's beautiful, dreamy and relaxing.

| Himalaya by David Parsons
Himalaya is a musical journey through India and the Himalaya Mountains. Using a variety of synthesizers, David Parsons creates a beautiful and vivid musical picture. We hear and feel the driving wind and sense the mystery of the deserted snowy mountain meadows. In Rishikesh an underlying growling depicts the awesome feeling of standing at the base of the majestic Himalaya Mountains and looking up. The full-bodied rumble of Kailasa portrays the power of the shrine of Lord Shiva. In Varuna Deva...

| Maitreya: The Future Buddha by David Parsons
As far back as I can remember I have been strongly attracted to both Hinduism and Buddhism, although, because I have an interest in other religious philosophies around the world, I have never fully committed myself to any one belief system. By doing so, I worry that I might be tempted to exclude the great truths existent in other philosophies - so I keep an open mind.I have been very privileged to be able to travel, courtesy of Celestial Harmonies, to many countries, documenting and ...

| Yatra by David Parsons
David Parsons has long been fascinated by India and Tibet, two ancient worlds characterized by potent mythologies, mystical sacred sites, and sublime musical traditions. Over the years, this respected electronic composer has made numerous yatras (journeys, in Sanskrit) to India, experiencing the sites and sounds of this exotic land. Yatra is Parsons' first comprehensive attempt to log the essence of his Far Eastern adventures.Unlike his highly successful 1989 release Himalaya (17059-2), an...

| Surya by David Parsons
Surya is composer david parson's tribute to the sun and was inspired by the fluid light images of lynn augestein on her dvd borealis. Composed on kurzweil, novation, emu and roland synthesizers the tracks are, apart from a vananasi (india) atmosphere on the track 'alien dreaming', entirely electronic and all patches were programmed by david himself.

| Inner Places David Parsons (Performer)
"I wanted to create some music that could possibly provide sonic worlds which the listener could journey to in their imagination. The word loka in Hindi/Sanskrit can mean a world or realm of experience. The track titles simply translate as First World, Second World, etc.; I did not intend to colour the mind with descriptive titles, so that you, the listener, could create your own realm of experience."
