Album Description
This compact disk brings together selections from David Parsons' recordings, Tibetan Plateau and Sounds of the Mothership. The recording includes eight compositions that evoke the sounds of remote, deep space through the soaring voices of Parsons' synthesizers in combination with classical Indian instruments. Inspired by the ancient Vedic songs of India, Parson's music lies at the well-springs of consciousness, tempered by soothing sounds from the physical world: the soft chirping of crickets, the calls of songbirds, and the restless sounds of the four winds. The music serves as a centering point for the mind amid the swirling vortex of the temporal plane.

I still have the tape that was given to me as a birthday present back in the 80's. It still does the same for me as it did then. I can't recommend it enough. Great for slowing and settling the mood. Great for meditation. Great to help you go to sleep and awake refreshed. If you buy this you won't be disappointed.

When I first heard this music, on a poorly recorded tape back in the mid 80's, it was the closest electronic music had got to transmit the grandeur of the Himalaya. The CD edition of the same recording was in some ways a disappointment. While the quality of the sound improved, several recording of Sounds of Mothership were left out. Having said that, the recording stands out because it broke new ground.

I had this album on tape back in '84. It was way ahead of the times when it came out. It's beautiful, dreamy and relaxing.
