CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 2 reviews)
| Great songs and and exceptional notes by Ronald L. Levao (Princeton, NJ) 5 Stars November 01, 2009 Anyone who enjoys the joyously silly girl-group and doo-wop sounds of the early-60s will delight in this collection. Plenty of classic rock 'n roll in original and "pre-original" versions (i.e., their demos) provide a consistently upbeat, hook-filled romp. The insert and its notes is a special added attraction; a no-BS, 10-page, tiny-type pamphlet on the lives and careers of Barry and Greenwich that is densely detailed and traces these two from childhood to their later days (Ellie recently passed away) and their music-biz trail leads everywhere, writing, singing, and producing for a staggering range of people, from Aretha Franklin and the Crystals to Neil Diamond and the Monkees!
| | Brill Building teenpop, sung by the authors themselves by Joe Sixpack -- Slipcue.com (...in Middle America) 4 Stars January 14, 2003 A cool collection of singles and unreleased stuff by a "band" that Brill Building songwriters Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich concocted in order to demo up some of their songwriting ideas... and then wound up having a few unexpected hits! There's some overlap with some recent Ellie Greenwich reissues, although this has a more concentrated dose of their girl-group-y, doo-wop leanings. Also includes the thunderously irresistable "Kind Of Boy You Can't Forget", along with their versions of "Doo Doo Ron Ron" and "Hanky Panky", and the goofy reciprocal-sex tune "When The Boy's Happy (The Girl's Happy Too)" ...Fun stuff!!

| Do-Wah-Diddy: Words And Music By Ellie Greenwich And Jeff Barry by Various Artists
Three husband and wife songwriting teams ruled the airwaves of the Kennedy era: Gerry Goffin & Carole King, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil and Ellie Greenwich & Jeff Barry.Ace paid tribute to Goffin & King in 2007 with a big selling collection of their compositions, and a compendium of songs by Mann & Weil is scheduled for later this year, but first it's the turn of top Brill Building hitmakers Greenwich & Barry. Although they wrote together for just three or four years, you'd need a box set to...
