EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Entire recorded output by New York City's amazing Garage band from the 80's and still active today. All songs here are gorgeous originals, with a folk/rock sound that shimmers and sparkles. The songwriting is excellent across the board; with comparisons to Gene Clark, Emitt Rhodes and Michael Brown being easy to see. Certain songs jump out at the listener: “Like To Get To Know Her” with its breathtaking Byrds/Searchers-like harmonies, “Take Me” with the clever psychish opening, and “I See The Truth” with its hooks and guitar lines. |

| Listen with your eyes--The Optic Nerve might restore your faith in music by Greg Gutbezahl (Bloomfield, NJ USA) 4 Stars August 19, 2007 The Optic Nerve rose up out of DC when Bobby Belfiore (formerly a Purple Onion) packed up and moved to Gotham. Hooking up with primo guitarist Tony Matura from the Longhorns, and an ever-changing rhythm section, they created a sound out of step with the mid-1980's. Edging away from the exploding '60's garage-psych scene, they harmonized a 12-string folk-rock jangle reminiscent of the Byrds. They only lasted a couple years, and only released two singles, both of which are included on Lotta Nerve, but they are one of the bands many people who saw them remember fondly. Live at the Dive, a sweaty bar in Chelsea, the Optic Nerve battled it out with the best of them, leaving the crowd in awe as they pulled harmonies from the air and spun magic with their music. Amazingly, they never managed to put many tracks to wax, so all we have is this sterling collection of demos and singles, pulled up from obscurity for you to enjoy over and over again. Buy it and start enjoying their sound now!
| | These Guys Are First Rate by Robert Hanks (Redondo Beach, CA USA) 5 Stars March 09, 2007 Underrated, highly creative, exciting, and great hooks - sums up my impression of the (to me) obscure band Optic Nerve. Please give them a try.
