CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 2 reviews)
| just fot die hard van der graaf fans by Ignaciocue (Mexico) 3 Stars November 16, 2006 In my opinion this is just fot die hard van der graaf fans. It's hammil first album as such with mates, but named as Van der G.
There are 2 versions of this cd, each with 2 different and interesting songs for fans.
Newcomers to Van der graaf begin with H to he, then go to still life, godbluff, quiet zone, and finally the majestic ... Pawn hearts. You might will get hooked on vdgg and get everything else.
| | Canned Angst by Mark Champion (San Antonio, TX United States) 5 Stars October 07, 2005 When the first lyric from an album is "You stare out in yellow eyes larger than my mind" you'd better watch your step. As it turns out, the album in question is the debut from Peter Hammill's Van Der Graaf Generator so you'd derned well better take it seriously. Sorry, though - - the song ('Afterwards') is a post-coital lament. The ululations that later erupt in the middle of 'Necromancer' (as in "I am the Necromancer and I come to carry your heart away to God" - - or maybe it's "to good", not that it matters) don't help, either. Nor does the revelation that the singer 'must endure your red copper hair screaming like a water-baby' ('Octopus' - - talk about sexual dysfunction). Poor guy. It's all meant to be taken very seriously, of course, and there is plenty more of this sort of thing . . . but the mercifully short title track suggests it's all a bit tongue-in-cheek after all. Smokin' in the studio, boys?
