| A UNIQUE, FUNKY, AND PARANOID SCI-FI HORROR SCORE 5 Stars May 14, 2001 A VERY ORIGINAL SCORE FROM GOBLIN. THIS MOVIE REMINDS ME OF 50'S SCIFI WHEN THEY WERE PARANOID OF NUCLEAR WAR, GIANT MUTATED INSECTS, AND ALIENS TAKING OVER THE WORLD. IT HAS A VERY CAMPY FEELING TO IT, AND NOSTALGIA. THE BUIO OMEGA TRACK'S THAT ARE ON HERE GO WELL WITH THIS MOVIE. THEY HAVE VERY FUNKY AND TRIBAL KIND OF APPEAL THAT FITS THE MOVIE WELL. THE MOVIE ITSELF IS ALOT BETTER THEN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE, BUT EVEN IF THE MOVIE IS TERRIBLE GOBLIN ARE ALWAYS FUN TO LISTEN TO. IF YOU GET TO SEE THIS MOVIE MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE UNCUT PRINT, AND NOT THE ONE ENTITLED ALIEN CONTAMINATION. I AM VERY GLAD CINEVOX ARE ARE MAKING THESE SCORES AVAILABLE, AS THEY WERE ALWAYS SO HARD TO FIND BEFORE. THE CINEVOX CD'S HAVE GREAT SOUND AND PRODUCTION, AND THE LINER NOTE ISSUE IS SUCH A NON ENTITY WHEN YOUR TALKING ABOUT SOUNDTRACK'S THAT FOR THE LONGEST TIME WERE SO HARD TO GET.
| | A Good Goblin Score by John Peterson (Marinette, WI USA) 4 Stars March 23, 2001 For the Luigi Cozzi sci/fi-horror flick Contamination, Goblin (Fabio Pignatelli/bass, Agostino Marangolo/drums, Roberto Puleo/guitar, and Maurizio Guarini/keyboards) composed a very atmospheric soundtrack. It's a fine score with Connexion and Withy being standout tracks. The bonus tracks (especially the Contamination two part suites) are pretty nifty, too. One caveat is that four tracks from the Buio Omega cd (Bikini Island, Pillage, Rush, and Quiet Drops) are repeated on this soundtrack (this was the way it was originally released in Italy; the Buio Omega soundtrack was unreleased for a couple of decades). The liner notes are pretty skimpy, too but these are minor quibbles. While not as strong a score as Suspiria or Zombi, it still delivers the goods.
