| | There simply aren't enough stars to rate this cd! by LudaChris (Hell) 5 Stars December 17, 2003 Medication was an incredible band that, if you're here you probably already know this, featured Whit Crane of Ugly Kid Joe and Life of Agony and Logan Mader of Machine Head and Soulfly. I say "was" because the band broke up earlier this year after their record label went out of business. This EP was released back in 2002, and it is awesome! There isn't one bad song here. The EP kicks of with "Something New", which has a great, sad melody and great vocals. Next in line is "Under Water", which is what got me into Medication. It has some incredibly heavy guitar riffs reminicient of Logan's work in Machine Head, and creepy-sounding, atmospheric verses. "Inside" follows it with a great melody and a heavy, pulverising guitar riff, making it easy to see why this was the first single. After that is "No Direction", which has more melody than what there normally is in music this heavy, and that's a good thing. The last song is "Need to Never", and like "Under Water", it is reminicent of Machine Head, but in a good way. This album showed the ultimately lost potential of Medication, and they are way too good to have broken up so soon. I'm definately going to buy "Prince Valium" after hearing this. Not owning this album should be against the law!!
| | Incredible! by icecelt (Santa Clara, CA USA) 5 Stars May 17, 2002 Had a friend recommend this EP to me so I reluctantly bought it (I've been recommended really terrible music lately...). Popped it in the CD player and was just STUNNED. None of the same-old same-old Korn(y) soundalikes, it's different (but not "fusion jazz" different;>) The sounds of the songs are familiar, they'll fit on you comfortably like an old pair of jeans, but they're refreshingly new enough to catch your ear. My favourite is "Inside", which is INCREDIBLE and worth the price of the EP alone, it's haunting and lulls you at first but then picks up and then starts to drive with relentless force - and the other tracks are REALLY stupendous too, I am HOOKED. And that's RARE!!!
| | Medication EP .....*must own* by Paul Browne (England.....the hills.) 5 Stars April 04, 2002 5 songs in total, more of a sneak taste to the promised sounds of "medication". Medication is the Brain child of Whit Crane and Logan Madder, it begins with SOMETHING NEW, class act of *back to basics* Rock/metal song with umph. This song alone is a reason to buy the EP...thru to track 2 UNDERWATER which stomps a little harder, reminiscent of Logan's previous band 'machinehead'. THen onto the third INSIDE, this hipnotic track, trickles a great verse backed by a neat drum/bongo signature, then BAAAAHM chorus gets all heavy and shakes the foundations of the room - real deal, no Rap or over production...heavy and raw old school metal...4th and 5th songs are just a pure. There's hints of ugly kid joe, as there is Machinehead. But all together if a heavy rock album with a *no frills* approach is what you want, then Medication is yer best mate!
| | Something New by Dan Nykolayko (Dana Point, CA USA) 5 Stars April 03, 2002 I remembered being angry at Logan Mader when he left Machine Head for Soulfly and I always stood behind Robb Flynn. However, after comparing the last two disasters that were Machine Head albums to this new project involving Logan, it looks like I have some catching up to do with Mr. Mader.I've always been a fan of Whitfield Crane... especially his touring work with Life of Agony... he has an amazing voice. The vocals on this disc absolutely blew me away... by far one of my favorite voices in heavy music... and his lyrics are just as good. The music is very dark and atmospheric... the verses of "Underwater" actually sound as if you are listening to a song submerged in water. The chorus is abrasive!I've been looking forward to checking out this project for some time and am extremely happy with it's result. For 8 bucks, you can't go wrong!

| Another Animal by Another Animal
The band name couldn't be more perfect. Another Animal features three members of Godsmack - guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill and drummer Shannon Larkin. Joining them are original Godsmack guitarist Lee Richards (ex-Dropbox) and ex-Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane. Yet the music they've created for their self-titled debut is a different beast altogether.
