CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 7 reviews)
| Nooooooooo........ by Smithy1185 (San Diego, CA USA) 2 Stars August 27, 2004 Dogwood....the name brings up good memories of a band that used to be incredible. Sadly those days have come and gone and now they have released a bad cd. There were a couple songs on here that where pretty good but most of them just seemed very mediocre. Yes back when I was younger Dogwood used to be one of my favorite bands and each cd out by them was fantastic, but with all the good members gone they seemed to have gone downhill. I almost wish they had just called it quits after Matt Aragon since they would have left with a good reputation still. It also doesn't help that the first time I saw them live they put on a marvelous show but the last time I saw them it was the worst concert I have ever been to. Hopefully if they release a brand new cd it will be good and restore my faith in them.
| | best since building a better me 5 Stars January 13, 2004 I really was'nt shure if i should buy this because after hearing the matt aragon cd i wasn't impressed. Building a better me is definitely thier best cd. I was sad to hear that shawn, jason, and russel have all left. In my opinion dogwood will never be as good. Building a better me in my ipinion is still their best cd. They really changed their sound on this cd but it has a lot of good songs once you get use to them. Overal a great cd, but might take some getting use to for long time fans.
| | A Must Have by Janna (California) 5 Stars June 17, 2003 This CD is a must have for any fan of punk or Dogwood. I first started to like Dogwood when I heard Building a Better Me. That CD was so wonderful, that I was afraid there would never be a CD that ever measured up. More Than Conquerors didn't even come close, and Through Thick & Thin was good, but still not as good as Building a Better Me. I was getting discouraged, but I decided to get Seismic anyways, to at least give it a try. That was a very wise decision on my part. At first, I didn't really like it. None of the songs really stood out like they did on Builing a Better Me, so i set the CD aside for a little while. But after I listened to it again, all the way through, I realized that I loved it. This CD has a harder sound to it than their past couple of albums, and it also has a more powerful message. These songs leave you wanting more, and make good use of the REPEAT button on your CD player. If you liked the vocals from the past couple of albums, with their kind of aggressive sound to them, then you will love these vocals, which are in my opinion even stronger and better. Many of the songs have great messages, but it is never preachy. The songs make you think. This CD is definitely different from the others. You might not be able to tell right away, but after a few listenings, it becomes obvious. They try some different beats on it, and I think that they did a good job of it. Almost all of the songs are good on here, a bunch of them really stand out. The songs I really love are Conscience in a Cave, Faith, What Matters, Trailer Full of Tragedies, the list goes on. Conscience in a Cave is the kind of song where I can just press repeat and listen to it over and over again. I like everything about that song, just the overall sound. Trailer Full of Tragedies has a unique sound to it. The message on What Matters is really great. Last of the Lost is another repeatable song. It's great. Don't just take my word on this CD. Everyone likes different songs, and I didn't even mention all of the songs that I like, because that would be mentioning the whole CD. I warn you, don't judge this CD from the clips on this website. They don't show you what the song really sounds like, they don't give you the full affect of the song. If you like Dogwood or any punk music, get this CD. It is unique, without losing the stuff about Dogwood that makes them good. It has great vocals, instrumentals, and message. This CD is a must have.
| | THIS ALBUM LEFT ME SPEECHLESS!!! by Michael L. Wrigglesworth (West Seneca, NY) 5 Stars February 10, 2003 I can honestly say that this was instantly in my top 10 punk albums after hearing this for the first time. After the second time it was in my top five. It's probably reached it's way to top three now. This is without a doubt the best dogwood album. When it comes to the overall sound of the album, it isn't anything different but trust me it's even better than before. Dogwood brings back the blistering melodic punk/hardcore energy that everyone loves. I can't really tell you which song is my favorite because the whole album is equally awesome. The only thing I can find to complain about is that I wish there were more songs on it. If you like dogwood or punk this cd is truly something you need to get.
| | Dogwood: Seismic by aefelds (LA, CA) 5 Stars February 05, 2003 Dogwood again, comes through with their new release Seismic. Seismic is an almost perfect album, a 4.5. The band goes back to some of their earlier styles of beats, bass, and guitar, but adds other styles as well. Every song on the album is good. A few months ago, the band had their trailer stolen at a show. Some bands may have called it quits after such a tragedy. Dogwood never showed any fear, and "Seismic" proves just that. af
