CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 13 reviews)
| Not what I expected by B. Nelson 4 Stars October 06, 2009 I took a chance on this album only because it was in my "others have also bought..." list. To say I was pleasantly surprised is putting it mild. I dig rythmn-n-blues type heavy metal/hard rock and Hydrogyn delivers. And though not a great original song, their cover of "18 And Life" plays better than the original.
| | pleasent surprise by John P. Gunn (NC) 5 Stars August 18, 2009 I bought this CD solely because of the cover art work (pathetic right). Then I put this thing in my CD player and was blown away. Julie has a set of pipes on her with a sexy Southern draw that most of the time you find in Country music (in fact) that's where she got her start. The band compliments her vocals very well. The songs are catchy and draw you in. I've seen some of their live shows posted on you.tube and I have to say they sound just as good live as they do recorded. This is just good old down and dirty rock-n-roll.
| | Judge the Book (CD) By Its Cover by Just MO (USA) 5 Stars August 15, 2009 Take a good hard look at the cover art and buy the CD. There's your review. The cover says it all. A sexy bombshell with a stack of amps, and that's what the album delivers. No pleasant surprises, no subliminal messages and no faking it. This is what is called get your face on rock 'n' roll. No need to read between the lines
There's a lot of pretentious crap out there. Hydrogyn is a brutally honest rock 'n' roll band. If you're the type of rock enthusiast who can enjoy getting back to basics and can appreciate their sonic steaks so rare the beast is still kicking, you're going to love this band.
| | Bomb by Scott A. Zambo (Bronxville, NY United States) 1 Stars May 15, 2009 Wow, in randomly searching for new music I came across some of the reviews for `Bombshell' which to my astonishment were positive.
From start to finish this was one of the worst records I have ever heard.
I initially got the record based upon the production of Michael Wagener who produced some of my favorite albums & bands in the mid-80s.
What shocked me most was how amateurish & derivative the band sounded. Half of the guitar fills sound like Zakk Wylde & the rhythm section seems small & talentless.
The vocals sound pedestrian & at times heavily produced & while they may sound powerful they are not distinctive. The singer's ability to carry a note is admirable, but range & power does not equal interest. If vocal ability were the only criteria, then every singer from `American Idol' would be a winner.
I should have known better considering that everything on the record & band website promoted the singers well endowed figure to the point of making one think she was stripper from a Motley Crue video.
| | Hydorgyn is HOT! by Karl Schubert (Milwaukee, WI USA) 4 Stars April 29, 2009 I can't figure out why Hydrogyn hasn't gotten the attention of a hydrogen bomb blast.
Julie Westlake is a talented singer in addition to being highly attractive. And her vocals are backed by a great band. They've got it all, except attention from the mainstream which has somehow failed to notice them. How that's possible is a mystery to me.
I own this in addition to Deadly Passions and look forward to future releases from them. I can only hope they keep up the good work.

The Haunting, yet powerful vocals of the beautiful Julie Westlake, and the stunning press photos taken by John Scarpati (Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson etc) will ensure that this band are front page news...

| Strip 'Em Blind Live by Hydrogyn
Strip Em Blind Live shows Hydrogyn at its best in front of 15,000 maniacs in Charleston, West Virginia. Hydrogyn combines all of the essentials for a great performance which will only improve with the addition of guitarist Craig Goldy (of Dio fame) in the next studio release. This release is a testament to their ability to perform in front of a large audience and leave them stripped and blind in the best of ways.
