Product Description
Poland's Riverside are undoubtedly THE buzz band of the current progressive rock scene. Their dark, moody, atmospheric sound - which has been compared to both Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree - is mixed with modern metal elements to create something both unique and authentic. Fans and critics alike warmly embraced their last CD, Second Life Syndrome with gusto and enthusiasm, and tours with bands such as Dream Theater have helped to launch what is certain to be a long and productive career. The initial version of Rapid Eye Movement will be limited to 4000 units. It will be housed in digipack format and will feature 3 bonus tracks. The band are currently looking at touring possibilities for North America this autumn, stay tuned...

GRANDE ALBUM X UNA GRANDE BAND by Kalibra (imola, italy) 4 Stars
July 29, 2009
Consiglio vivamente l'acquisto!!

Barely blinking by IRate 2 Stars

This fairly boring melodic hard rock with dulled progressive inclinations apathetically walks a generic line between the sonic soundscapes of Porcupine Tree and manly crunch of Tool, adding up to a calculatedly cold limitation of talent.

Middle-Easternish Prog Rock by Ihvahn (Charleston, WV USA) 4 Stars

Very Middle-Eastern-influenced tunes mixed with prog rock/metal. Though it's not for everyone, it's definitely my cup of tea...

Riverside - Essential by Steven Sly (Kalamazoo, MI United States) 5 Stars
December 30, 2008
Riverside have fast become one of my favorite modern progressive rock bands. Their laid back Pink Floydian sound infused with a bit modern prog metal is the perfect combination that creates their unique sound. Every album that Riverside has put out has been strong and "Rapid Eye Movement" continues to build the band's legacy. Musically the album channels fellow modern prog rockers Porcupine Tree and the mellower side of Opeth. I would think that fans of both bands would find a lot to like here. The music is lush and transcendent with a hint of metallic crunch now and then. Vocalist Mariusz Duda continues to expand his range and puts in a fantastic performance here. The CD also includes several bonus tracks that are also very good. For fans of modern melodic progressive rock with a metal edge this album is essential.

Catching Your Ear! by Glenn O. Kirms (Anywhere, USA) 4 Stars

Although I've known about Riverside for a while now I just never ventured out to really take a listen. But finally, I did and I'm thoroughly enjoying their current release and have since downloaded their other albums as well and each album delivers. The lead singer's (Mariusz Duda) voice might catch you a little bit off guard, but I believe he does wear on you and there is enough other music on this album to capture you. I think, they do a fine job in blending progressive with metal and some screamo type vocals at times to keep things current. The instrumentals are top notch and I found the bonus track "Rapid Eye Movement" which is a nice instrumental touch. While I might not be a true and die hard listener from the beginning of this band there is enough here to enjoy. But, like I said, for some the vocals might hold you off. You will just have to decide for yourself and I really don't think it deserves a one star review as one reviewer has given. But in music, everyone has their preferences, good or bad.

It is with no small amount of pride that Inside Out Music has the unique opportunity to announce its very first signing from a former communist country: Poland’s Riverside. Behind the Iron Curtain, over the past years, and especially in Poland, progressive music has very quietly (but surely) been growing in popularity and establishing itself as a real scene. As a result, some very interesting and promising bands have begun to see the proverbial light-of-day. Enter Riverside, with their...

Sieges Even are among the elite acts now coming out of Germany's growing prog rock / metal scene. Since the release of their 2005 U.S. debut The Art Of Navigating By The Stars - Sieges Even has had the opportunity to spend some time reflecting and subsequently made a conscious decision to tip their hat to a sound they had embraced earlier in their career, that is to say a return to putting more emphasis on composition. Still present is the complexity and stylistic diversity for which they have...

Anno Domini High Definition

Anno Domini High Definition
by Riverside

Riverside have composed an album which is a perfect reflection of our times. An offering full of symbolism starting with the fact that the title of their fourth release consists of four words and that the album is precisely 44:44 minutes long and an intelligent take on current reality. Anno Domini High Definition is not a concept album in the classic sense, although it features a central theme and a haunting message. "It's an album about people who know they need to speed up or they'll get left...
