A masterwork of cold, dark ambience by JP Ward (AZ, USA) 5 Stars
February 15, 2008
It's about time the soundtrack to this 1997 Norwegian film is in print and available to the US. Biosphere's music is one of the things that made the film Insomnia so great, so chilling (figuratively and literally). But that needn't matter, for this is entrancing as a stand-alone album and ranks amongst my favorite work of Biosphere. Even if I hadn't seen the film, this music would still make me picture glaciers and misty fjords. This won't appeal to all listeners of Biosphere and/or ambient. It's cold, dark, haunted, lonely music. Recommended to listeners of dark ambient.
