| | If you like this, you'll like the music in heaven by J. C. Bosshard 5 Stars August 11, 2009 It is likely unknown to many that Gregorian Chant evolved out of the Jewish Temple liturgy of the time of Christ. Even without understanding Latin, listing to this chant prayerfully raises the heart, mind, and soul to God. The best description of the feeling this chant gives is softness. Everything is so smooth, calming, and peaceful. There are no bumps, nothing sharp, just peace. While people of various religious traditions can appreciate this music, it should especially be cherished by Roman Catholics, as it is our musical heritage. The documents of the Second Vatican Council state that "The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art," and that Gregorian Chant should be given "pride of place" in liturgical services.
| | Calming music by Carol K. Miletti (Minneapolis) 4 Stars June 27, 2009 This music takes me back to my childhood, and I find it very relaxing.
It calms the mind and the body.

Today they formally begin their work as The Priests, their music will be religious and spiritually inspired classics including Ave Maria and Panis Angelicus. The...

Jade Music is proud to release the first record by the Norbertine Fathers of St. Michael's Abbey - Christmas at St. Michael's Abbey: Chants for the Three Masses of Christmas.
This recording includes the proper chants of the three Masses of Christmas (Midnight; the Mass at dawn, and the Mass of the day) as sung at St. Michael's Abbey. They are still in use after all these centuries, and retain their sacramental quality, their supple vigor, and the ability to dispose the soul for the...

| Chant by Gregorian Chant, The Benedictine Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos
Thanks to good marketing, good cover art, and good luck, this disc probably has sold more copies than most other recordings of Gregorian chant put together. It's often quipped that most of those discs have been listened to exactly once and put away--to the puzzlement of many musicians and critics, who point out that there are more beautiful, more varied performances by professional singers available. Yet the singing of these Spanish Benedictines has a special quality that probably...
