She captured the hearts of millions and became a worldwide YouTube phenomenon with over 300 million hits. An inspiration for those who have a dream, the talented Susan Boyle presents her stunning debut album. Susan surprised the world with her powerful, heart stopping voice when she walked onto the Britain's Got Talent stage. Now with a beautiful and diverse album she will, once again, defy preconceptions. I Dreamed a Dream, the album, crafted by world acclaimed producer Steve Mac, demonstrates Susan Boyle's extensive musical ability. Featuring her signature songs, `I Dreamed a Dream' & `Cry me a River' the album also includes a haunting rendition of Rolling Stones "Wild Horses", Madonna's `You'll See, The Monkees `Daydream Believer' and "Who I Was Born To Be" an original recording written specially for Susan. | Definitely worth the money! by Carla M. Spacher (California, USA) 5 Stars November 28, 2009 Where can you purchase a CD for $9.99 nowadays? Susan Boyle sings 12 classic songs that not are truly inspirational! I love this CD! She even sings Silent Night which is great for the holidays, if that is something you enjoy. My favorites are "I Dream a Dream" and "Wild Horses".
| | She's living a dream come true! by Sylviastel 5 Stars November 28, 2009 We have all seen that clip of Susan Boyle, a frumpy old maid, from Blackburn, Scotland where she spent most of her years caring for her ill mother who passed away 2 years ago. Susan always had a voice and Britain's got talent was in Glasgow, Scotland and after a long day of uninspiring talent, she walks on stage in a frumpy dress and a terrible haircut. She's unemployed at 47 and volunteers at her church in her small village. She makes a few jokes and pokes fun about herself. She wants to be a singer like Elaine Paige who is best known for her roles in Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals. The judges like Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan, and a lovely attractive woman make silly faces. They are probably thinking "oh not another one." They expect her to be bad. What they don't expect her to be is good and in fact, I think better than Elaine Paige at singing "I Dreamed a Dream," from Les Miserables. Maybe it's because Susan finally gets her moment. Before she finished "IDream a Dream," Simon's smirk on his face changes in total disbelief. She has made him and the crowd to be Susan Boyle converts. When you watch the video of Susan going on stage, nobody not even Ant or Des, the show's hosts, the judges, or the audience expected to witness television history or maybe a miracle in these times.
Susan Boyle's story is inspiring because there are so many of us out there who are just looking for a miracle and hope in a troubled world with a difficult economy where jobs are tough and hard to find, homes are being foreclosed, and insurance companies are getting away with murder. Susan's moment led her to London where she competed and came in second. But that's not bad. She got a record deal and is probably living a dream of a lifetime. She's one of the fascinating people of the year, 2009.
Susan is a nice girl who did all the right things. She went to church, sung in the choir, cared for her mother, and was devoted to her life in her small Scottish village. Overnight, she became a sensation. We have to allow her to have some flaws. Let her make some mistakes. She wasn't used to the press, the publicity, and being followed regularly. Now, she's better. She sang with her childhood idol, Donny Osmond, recently. Who knows what Susan's future will be? Right now, she's living a dream that few of us can only imagine. If it can happen for Susan Boyle, why not the rest of us. Like the song say, "I dreamed a dream so different from this hell I'm living." I'll buy every compact disc. God Bless You, Susan, and keep singing.
| | Awe Inspiring Music that will move you to your SOUL! by starfire 5 Stars November 28, 2009 This woman is truly blessed and is being used in a MIGHTY way to inspire
all who look about and find it hard to hope. It's about all who have tried,
all who have faced insurmountable obstacles, all who have seemingly failed &
all who have been on the verge of giving up, but moved on in faith.
I pray she always maintains some aspects of faith in her songs.
RARELY do I get an album and like EVERY SONG, even songs I never cared much for
before. When Susan sings them, you feel your soul stir and your gratitude rise.
PERFECT for a Thanksgiving timed release! She truly is a bright beacon of light
and faith in an otherwise dark and dreary world.
| | BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES by M. J. Davis (Phoenix, OR USA) 5 Stars November 28, 2009 Susan's voice is unbelievable and from the first time I heard her on Britain's Got Talent until I heard this album, there is no denying that this is a voice for the ages. Its clarity and feeling is unmatched and as I listened to her voice, I closed my eyes and found tears running down my cheeks. Tears not from sadness but from the utter joy that came upon me from the sounds and feeling of her and the music. This album was put together in such a manner as to show her sweetness and power that she can portray with her voice and inner feelings. Some of the songs are truly words from Susan to everyone who has denied her in the past and who now can listen to her words that she can "do it" and it "can be done"! Thank you for this album and will surely be looking for the next one.
| | She is quite a dream herself by Cary Jones (Salem, VA United States) 5 Stars November 28, 2009 What a sweet person, who loves music to it's core. She has even religious music on here. Everyone will enjoy and love this album. I love the way she is recorded. It's pure genius. Such clarity, and barely visible orchestration. It's just she and the microphone. I would have liked to see more range exhibited here, but she doesn't disappoint in proving that she is quite a great controlled singer, and that she can shine so brilliantly. I look forward to many more of her renditions. I now put her up there with Barbara Streisand who can sing with such feeling and magnitude. It's a great CD to even relax to.
