I live in the Caribbean which means I'm a bit limited for choice (no BestBuy, Newegg, Amazon delivery here) so I look to buy solid hardware with lasting potential.
I had heard bad things about Gateway customer support but decided (on a trip to the USA) to go for this rig.
I would have prefered to purchase one of the all bells and whistles, water cooled, interior neon etc etc systems but the specs on this Gateway with the very competitive price made it hard to pass up.
What can I say? It works. Right out of the box( after international shipping), plugged in and never a hiccup. I added my two old hardrives, just plugged them in at the front bays and therefore have all my old files to hand without a problem.
Running on Vista 64 bit ( I peronally have never had a problem with Vista) whilst awaiting the free Windows 7 upgrade in the mail.
Modern Warfare 2 runs silky smooth, never a shudder seen.
It seems a little short on expansion bays but what would you need to add to this machine that it dosnt have already?
Iphone, ipod, sony mp3 player, Nexstar hard drive dock, Netgear router, all running without a hiccup.
All in all it's a great machine, a little boring to be honest, I'm a tinkerer, like to get the sides of the box and play around - this thing dosn't need it.
If you can get one at a good price, snap it up.

Well as much as i love computers and love being an IT, i really hate to admit that computer gaming has finally seen its last days. Sure there are the few and far between hardcore computer gamers out there, but the market has been taken over and dried up for the last year or so now, because of DRM, and SecureROM, copyright protection. This has chased many gamers into the console wars, alone with everyone else who use to love PC games and felt up close and personal while playing them. The reason i give this computer a bad review is because its just so overkill its a waste or time and money. The computer itself is remarkable, its just of no use anymore even for hard core gamers, because everything now requires you to do a digital download to get the PC game and makes it such a hassle. Also the copyright protection is just through the roof ludicrous and putting viruses that people dont even know about, on there new 1800 to 2500 dollar PCs. I feel for these folks. Case and point i have an ASUS gaming laptop with a 9800GS 512mb of RAM card etc etc. I installed and played one of my favorite games, Dead Space, well the game played smashingly, and looked great on the high gloss resolution screen, and the frame rates blew away the PS3, but were about the same as the 360. Well come to find out i went to my music folder with over 5000 songs(with folders) open up the folders to find out all my music was gone. Why? Because none of it was payed for, and the few encrypted songs that were left i had gotten from Bearshare just to listen to. Well lucky for EA i had everything backed up on discs and my external hard drive, or they would find themselves with a very large lawsuit up there $%#. So that was the beginning of the end of PC gaming for me, except for a chosen few i new were clean of DRM technology, mainly older games.
Well now on to this computer, i know it shouldnt suffer at the hands of one reviewer but i post this as a warning to not spend your hard earned money on a machine like this because its just to much. Even though this has above and beyond the bells and whistles you will ever need, Gateway(now owned by Acer) does NOT have that good of a track record, so be careful. My friend has this machine, i played it enjoyed it for a bit, but just couldnt get past the thought of being watched by the DRM baddies out there and said hey, i have to stick with consoles now. No driver, very little hassle(other than the red ring), the PS3 is a big behind graphically but still the most reliable, and you dont have to look at the back of the box to see the specs and if your computer can handle it or not. While in my PC gaming mode just a few months back the thing that really killed me was that the Gamestop people were so cold about not selling them anymore. They said pffft you realize that PC games only make up 2% of our sales right, so i felt like an idiot and actually put the game back i was going to purchase and left. I thought well its over and i dont feel like chancing buying, unwrapping and being stuck with a game because of fear that they think i will create a copy and distribute it. So leave it up to a few to ruin it for everyone. So instead of picking a game to write this review i chose a computer, mainly because thats what they are played on. So if you really wanna blow your hard earned cash, just because you think the framerate is faster and the picture is prettier go ahead, but i have to say pay [...] for an xbox, and 399 for a PS3, for just over [...], and still have over [...] to spend on games and accessories for them. I use to love PC gaming but i'm afraid the Digital Rights Management has put the final nail in the coffin for me. If you get anything, get this or an ASUS, neither are very reliable, but you may have some fun for a while, just not long.
PC-Drivers, bug fixes, compatability issues, control problems, camera angle issues, crashes, installation, tons of resolution and tweaking to be done, hackers, and DRM.
Consoles-Pop in the disc, update, play.(The occasional red ring)
