I borrowed a Furminator from my friend to use for my dog and LOVED it. The other day at her barn I was grooming some of her horses and used the Equine version and I couldn't believe how great it worked. I read others reviews where they said it doesn't work any better than other shedding blades and I was stunned to hear it. I can't believe how much shedding fur came off with this tool - effortlessly! I have owned horses for 40 years and have never seen such an awesome piece of grooming equipment. Now I may actually enjoy shedding season instead of dreading it! Came right to Amazon to buy my own for my horses and one for my dog while I am at it!

I have been using it on my horse since I got it and it works great! He is shedding like crazy and this tool helps to get all the loose hair off without a lot of time and effort. I would highly recommend it. My horse seems to like it too, it doesn't dig into his skin and I can use it all over him.

The furminator works just OK. It has very tiny teeth so you have to clean after every stroke. I found the straightness of the blade unforgiving to a horse's natural contours and it is surprisingly heavy. Your money is better spent on a 5-10 dollar round shedding blade, which I will order shortly. The packaging warns you about protecting the teeth and I suspect one drop on a concrete floor and it would all be over for this tool. This will probably sit on the shelf.

If you own a pet, the FURminator(tm) is the #1 tool you should have at home for your cat or dog - no matter how short or long their hair coat is! This easy to use, ergonomic, sturdy, well-made tool helps reduce shedding by up to 90% by removing the loose, dead undercoat without damaging the topcoat. This works great for Golden retrievers, Siberian huskies, Labrador retrievers, and short- or long-haired cats. Have the vacuum handy though, as you'll be shocked (or disgusted) by piles of fur that fly off!
The only bad thing about this Furminator is that you CAN take off TOO much fur and too much undercoat - I made two of my cats partially bald before I realized how well it was working! Overall, it's a bit pricey but great if you have a pet with a lot of fur and a thick undercoat!
