| WONDERFUL Kitchen shoes! In fact wonderful shoes period. by MWF (Alabama) 5 Stars August 28, 2009 I bought my quarks about five years ago when I was working in a kitchen and needed something slip resistant, comfortable, and not terribly expensive. These shoes fit the bill perfectly. I couldn't have asked for more perfect shoes, they kept me comfortable through long days on my feet, didn't get hot or break down like my crocs had, and were easy to clean. Five years later, long out of the kitchen (at least professionally), and I'm still wearing my Quarkys. They're great rainy day shoes, they're still in great shape, still look almost identical to the day I took them out of the box.
| | Fabulous, favorite shoes! by JK (California) 5 Stars December 18, 2008 These shoes are such a wonderful find! The Quark Quarky is the most perfect, comfortable, attractive shoe I could hope for. They are far, far more comfortable than any other "garden" shoe that I have tried, and I don't consider them garden shoes. I've worn mine everywhere, almost every day for the past year, and they still look great. Friends thought they were leather, but I happily told them that they are vegan, and clean up much better than leather, last better than leather, seem to be waterproof, and are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. I don't remember if they were "noisy" when I first bought them, but they are perfectly quiet now--maybe they need to be worn a bit to lose their squeaks. I just bought 2 pairs of vented Quarks for warm weather, but prefer the un-vented ones in cool weather. I have not found many vegan shoes comfortable enough to wear all day, but the Quarky is as comfortable as the best-made, most expensive leather shoes.
| | Okay, they're a little squeaky....and the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn by foraminut (Michigan, USA) 5 Stars September 21, 2008 I bought my first pair of Quarky's (in bubblegum pink, which I picked from a selection including only lime green, banana yellow, and the pink) 5 years ago. I was told they were gardening shoes; no difference to me, I have no ability to stand on cement for more than 5 minutes without spending the balance of the day walking crookedly. These shoes were and remain REALLY COMFORTABLE...no kidding, they are so comfortable, weigh little, are waterproof, and don't look like rubber (which I think that they are). I just bought a second pair in black (having finally wearied of strangers eyeballing my feet in the pink ones.)
Others have commented on the squeak; yep, these new ones are a little squeaky, and I don't recall that the others ever were. Maybe they were, and I've just to wear them in. At any rate, these are super shoes, and very comfortable; I am an educator and spend hours and hours on my feet in lecture halls. They're great!! If I had a need to enter a room without being noticed, I suppose that I'd slip them off. :)
| | comfortable but may be noisy by Mrs. marialab 3 Stars July 21, 2007 i am a medical professional. these are quite comfortable but i have a heck of a time trying to get my socked foot into
the shoe without squishing my toes and having the sock bunch up on top.
Feet do tend to sweat beacuse there are no "vents" in this style....which causes them to "pass gas" (noise), especially if worn barefoot. i would buy the vented style in the future.
| | Good comfortable shoes by Patricia (NJ, USA) 5 Stars July 01, 2007 I have several pairs of these in different colors. They are very comfortable, with or without socks. For messy work like gardening, the liner can be removed so it doesn't get wet, and they clean easily. These have generous toe width but are snug across the instep, which helps keep them on. I take a medium shoe but walk out of many clogs because they are too wide in the instep, so these are perfect, though someone with wide feet may find them too snug in that area. They make good rain shoes.
