EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Real kefir is a very healthy, yogurt like, fermented dairy drink which can be make only with live colonies of micro organisms living symbiotically kefir grains.
The natives of Caucasus Mountain (Russia) drank kefir like water already a couple thousands years ago. This is the only place in the world where the people reach advanced old age in perfect health. According to Dr. Mankiw, who researched kefir all his life, tuberculosis, cancer, stomach ailments etc. are unknown there. Nobody knows when and how the grains came to be, but they believe it was a gift from God.
Kefir can be made by adding the grains to any kind of milk. It has more beneficial cultures than other fermented milk products such as yogurt, which can be made with only two kinds of bacteria. Research proved that kefir has more than 20 different bacteria and yeasts. Its microflora is very compatible with the needs of our body, which is said to strengthen our immunity, aid digestive system and even fight cancer.
Kefir tastes slightly sour but also has a tingly quality because, unlike yogurt, it is naturally carbonated by its yeasts.
We will send you enough organic live kefir grains for one cup in special packaging that you can start to make and drink kefir, together with all information how to do it. It is easy to make it and benefits could be tremendous.
Grains will slowly grow in the milk and you can add more and more milk to make and drink more kefir. After a while you can give some grains to your friends and relatives to help them to be happier and healthier... |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 3.0 based on 5 reviews)
| Disappointed Expectations by Jennifer Faith Mansell (Rush Springs, OK, USA) 2 Stars July 18, 2009 The seller states in the product description that the quantity of Kefir grains will be enough to make one cup of milk. The amount I received was just over a teaspoon and the seller's directions which came with it said to put it in a quarter of a cup of milk. The grains seemed rather delicate and I've been "babying" them for about a week now and still haven't been able to make a cup of Kefir. Their fragile state was probably in part due to the way they were shipped. They were put without any liquid in a tiny, sealed, thin plastic envelope which was placed in an un-padded, business sized letter envelope. The $5.49 shipping seems rather steep for two stamps and a remarkable lack of special packaging. If I had it to do over again I would probably order from somewhere else. That being said, I have been able to make Kefir--albeit in doll portions---and the flavor is good.

First batch arrived flat and dead. Could not revive.
Second batch revived OK.
| | coming out of my ears by SP (Seattle, WA) 5 Stars September 01, 2008 these things grow so fast I have way too much now. They are real easy to care for and produce great kefir.
| | Good Product! by Norine C. Ruzicka (Grand Forks BC CAN) 5 Stars June 28, 2008 The grains changed the milk into kefir. Day after day new batches of kefir could be made. The grains were a little fragile. The product was fairly good. This homemade kefir does not taste the same as the liberty kefir you can buy in the supermarket. The kefir produced from the grains tastes a little like buttermilk. This homemade kefir does not taste as good as liberty kefir.
| | Flat Kefir Grains by gotmilk (U.S.A) 1 Stars February 20, 2008 Seller talks about growing kefir is like art, but the kefir that i got from him was flat. After readind on "DOM'S KEFIR" site i believe the grain was squeezed by the "Seller" ouch !
