Any type of equipment for swimming can cause injury, if used improperly. use big paddles only for SOFT, SLOW, EASY pulling and work on your stroke and increasing strength in your rotator cuff... pull FAST & HARD and you're gonna get hurt... our senior group swims 70,000+ yards per week with about 10,000 yards of pulling and we've never had a shoulder injury... This paddle rules, we've been using them since the late 90s, and all they've changed is the color. DON'T MESS WITH WHAT WORKS!!!!

When I bought these paddles I originally loved them. After using them for 6 months I messed up my rotator cuff and have not been able to swim for almost a year. If you use them be sure to warm up first as well as cool down. It may not have been the paddles but the timing after 4 years of lap swimming left me wondering.
