CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 5 reviews)
| A great little pot for backpackers by Miss Margaret Picky (NYC) 4 Stars June 19, 2009 The MSR Titan kettle is exactly the right size for a double-size freeze-dried meal, a couple of packs of ramen, a Lipton's meal, or enough hot water to make a single meal and have a hot beverage. There's an indentation on the bottom that keeps it stable on a cat food or soda can alcohol stove. The lid fits snugly so it doesn't fall off and it might even save you from losing your dinner if you knock it over. It will hold the stove and a windscreen when packing it up, plus your lighter and a spoon. The spout is very handy and the handles fold against the body. It's lightweight, too.
There are three drawbacks: the high price, it's hard to clean when making meals with creamy sauces as they tend to stick, and the handles get hot so you have to either let them cool or use a bandana.
Overall it's probably the best little backpacking pot there is if you can spare the bucks.
| | The Dribbles by R. ingram (greeneville TN) 3 Stars February 15, 2009 It's great quality like most MSR I would have liked it to hold a few more ounces. If you boil a full pot there is no way to start pouring without dribbling some till the water level is lower! Best to fill 3/4 full or beware of some really hot water where you might not want it.
| | All a backpacker needs by M. Kimes (East Texas) 5 Stars January 01, 2009 I've used my MSR Titan kettle for backpacking for years now. It's ideally suited for use with alcohol and Esbit stoves. It boils enough water for freezer bag cooking with left over to make tea which I drink directly from the kettle, using it as a mug. I have a cozy made of Reflectix which goes around the kettle to keep the tea warm on cold, windy days. Stove, stand, lighter and windscreen fit into the kettle when in my pack.
| | MSR Titan Kettle by T. L. Farr 4 Stars July 22, 2008 The MSR Titan Kettle works well. I am pleased with its durability, weight, and packability. The only downside is that the lid fits very snugly, so you need two hands to remove it. Then again, that probably contributes to its packability.
| | Good for Boiling by J. Lehmberg (CO) 5 Stars October 07, 2007 This little kettle is great for boiling or using as a cup or bowl. The lid fits tight to help speed boiling, and has a hole to release steam. The handles on the side fold against the side of the assemble for storage. Don't be surprised by the units small size. Intended for backpacking
