CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 3.5 based on 50 reviews)
| Totally disappointed by Daddy (Garland, TX) 1 Stars October 17, 2009 We got these weights for my wife. You can't adjust them tight enough around her ankles, so they slide up and down. There are no instructions at all, on how to use them, or anything
They're way too big (to wrap around the ankle) for a woman and they're too big even for me.
I can't imagine them being used on anyone's wrists
| | heavy ankle weight by O. Eckstein 4 Stars August 20, 2009 These ankle weights are great for leg lifts and some pull-ups and other abdomen workouts. Would not however recommend to wear these and run on a treadmill or any hard surface, esp. if you have flat feet. If you do run you can adjust the weights and run on a grass field with less than 5 pounds.
| | Not for walking by Avals Sher (FL, USA) 1 Stars August 09, 2009 The biggest problem with these weights is that they tend to loose their tightness over exercise routine. Namely, the velcro straps are loosen really easily and it's impossible to tighten them adequately to prevent movemement when they're on the leg. And if your exercise involves walking a distance with them, forget about it - they slide down the leg and rest on the ankle and bridge of your foot, as opposed to staying securely on the leg. You almost have to tie it above your calf muscle for any hope of them staying on. If you tie them on your shins, they'll just slide down, especially if you put in the full 20 pound weights in them. The picture on the box shows a person using them merely to do leg lifts which seems to be the only thing these are meant for. A system that provides clasping mechanism would have been much better.
| | A weighty subject by Bart Bernard (Haltom City, Texas United States) 5 Stars July 17, 2009 I use these as a photo-pole counterweight, so they do not receive a hard workout, but they are made tough. Nice straps and rings, well made.
| | Great for exercise, with inherit shortcomings by W. Poon 4 Stars June 11, 2009 They are great. The Velcro straps around the wrist or ankle are industrial strength and extra long and hold securely. The D-rings keeps the straps in place. The Velcro holding the removable weights is equally strong. At two-pound each, the weights are about two-inch thick. For ankles, they are just fine. For wrists, they are bulky. But ten-pound weights ARE bulky. (The TKO 22AS has 1-pound each weights but its straps are not getting good reviews.)
On my skinny arms, the Velcro straps do not go around tightly the wrists. The weights slosh to and fro on my forearms. (They never fall off.) But I doubt that during vigorous activity, any strap can keep ten-pound of weight in place. In addition, strapping that much weight while exercising, they are not comfortable to wear and sometimes I experience painful pressure on my arms. But the pain goes away once I rotate the weights around my wrists. That is one benefit of having skinny arms.
I wear wear 8-pound per arm now and play Wii tennis in them. In the beginning I had a hard time doing my over-the-head serve. Now I have improved much. So they are working. I really think the shortcomings I mentioned above are the inherit nature of heavy wrist weights. But if you find a pair that works better, let me know.
