EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description The SIGG Bottle with the seal of approval. A sign of premium quality exactly as youd expect from things Swiss. The proprietary SIGG bottle lining is a water-based, non-toxic coating taht is baked into the interior walls and remains flexible and crack resistant for the life of the bottle. Due to the finish of the liner, there is much less chance for bacteria build-up with a SIGG as opposed to plastic containers. The liner is taste-neutral and resistant to fruit acids and energy drinks, ensuring that your drinks taste like your drinks every time. Sigg bottles exceed FDA requirements and have been independently tested to prove 0.0% leeching. About 20% lighter weight than a lexan plastic bottle, SIGGS are incredibly durable, virtually unbreakable. |

| Inner Liner Flakes by Joe Merint 1 Stars November 23, 2009 I bought two of these bottles. Within 6 months the inside liner started flaking off around the cap. They wont tell me what the liner is made out of so I dont know what chemicals I consumed. For the price, I expected a longer life cycle.
| | SIGG put BPA in bottles and lied to consumers - What a bunch of jerks! by Elizabeth Van Wie (Phoenix, Arizona) 1 Stars November 20, 2009 Now that I know SIGG knowingly lied to consumers (including me in an email exchange I had with the company) about BPA in their bottles, I would NEVER BUY A SIGG AGAIN. I purchased a SIGG for the same reasons I purchase organic food, I thought it was safer for my children. But SIGG betrayed that trust. The company DID put BPA in its liners and lied to all of us. In fact, I've contacted the firm Caddell & Chapman about the class action lawsuit. I bought a SIGG to be safe and they deceived and lied to make more money. Now all they will offer is to exchange my BPA bottle for a new one. Oh, ya, sure, I trust you now. Just give me a new bottle. I want my money back and I'll hope that my kids were not affected by the BPA you snuck into the bottle. What a bunch of jerks!

| | Untrustworthy company by Z (USA) 1 Stars November 08, 2009 What a fiasco this company is. If they were selling hammers I'd be a little more forgiving. But they intentionally sold bottles with BPA in them while advertising them as BPA free!!! And it turns out that the most recent research is finding BPA to be even more dangerous to the human body than previously thought. So now they have a new liner but guess what - I have written off Sigg forever. I'm not even going to exchange my two bottles. I'll just toss them. I hope they made tons of money in their period of big-time sales because their reputation is trashed.
| | Even Patagonia Dropped Them by Mute208 (Bay Area, CA) 1 Stars November 05, 2009 When I found out about the BPA deception from SIGG, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. I went ahead and shipped back my old bottles to SIGG, at my cost, for an exchange. I have friends who just threw their bottles away because of their distrust of SIGG. Over a month later, I received an e-mail with a gift code to order replacements. The replacement order and customer service was a fiasco. It took several e-mails, phone calls, and over 3 weeks to resolve.
If you aren't aware of the scandal, all SIGG bottles before August of 2008 have BPA liners. When SIGG was asked during that time, if their bottles or liners contained BPA, SIGG reps carefully worded their response to assure the public that their bottles did not. It wasn't until SIGG quietly released their new liners and an investigative report revealed their lie, did SIGG finally come clean. Patagonia, the outdoor company, was lied to in their face by SIGG. Patagonia was so upset by SIGG's deceit, that they returned ALL SIGG bottles, including ones with the new liners, back to SIGG to be recycled.
Not only are SIGG bottles not as safe as everyone thought (including Oprah), but the company itself has burned the trust of consumers and retail partners with their deception. Fortunately for us, real BPA-free alternatives do exist. I personally own 2 Camelbak plastic bottles that use the Tritan material, which is BPA-free. If you want metal bottles, Camelbak makes them with medical grade stainless steel. Klean Kanteen also uses medical grade stainless steel but does contain nickel and is also made in China, which apparently a lot of people have a problem with. Personally, I'll be trying the Klean Kanteen bottles soon.
Knowing what we know now, I cannot imagine anyone trusting this brand or company again. I certainly am through being a supporter and customer. If you want more information, feel free to Google "SIGG BPA" and you'll be inundated with negative press. The number of articles speaks volumes of the outrage SIGG has caused. Be safe everyone!
| | Don't buy to be green by Hanzo (SE US) 1 Stars November 04, 2009 Sigg bottles had quite the jump in sales when everyone started avoiding plastic and specifically Nalgene due to BPAs (a chemical) that were in the plastic. They did this while quietly lining their bottles with BPA plastic. This was announced when they came out with new ones, and there is (was) an exchange program. Now I went to their site and found that they sell PVC stickers to go on the outside of your bottles for decoration purposes. While you do not drink out of this sticker, PVC and the inks that are typically used to print on PVC outgas nasty chemicals (VOCs) and are not at all recyclable (they are laminated with adhesive). This is NOT something that an environmentally concerned company would do. Perhaps Kleen canteen is better - at least they are stainless.
Do what you will with this information.
