CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.0 based on 36 reviews)
| I like it by Meijian Xu 4 Stars October 30, 2009 It works well. I have been suffered from sweat to my eyes until using this one. Better than head band. I give it 4 stars because I think the price is a little high.
| | No Sweat & No Headache by Jeffrey Guibord (Detroit, MI) 5 Stars October 19, 2009 The GUTR is amazing. You hardly notice its on. Sweat rolls past my eyes and off my face. When taking it off after working out it's like the Hoover Dam for sweat.
| | Works exactly as advertised, but no panecea by Hal C. Elrod (Houston, TX USA) 4 Stars October 06, 2009 Ordered the GUTR for riding in Houston TX when it is 95 degrees out and 114% humidity. Now some might say that 100% is the maximum amount on the humidity scale. But those people have not ridden in Houston TX on a day like today. In October. Yes.
As other reviews, GUTR is a little rain gutter for your forehead. It is comfortable, and with three sizes of elastic stretch bands I was able to fit my watermelon-sized noggin. It is not noticeable under a helmet, but would probably look pretty dorky without.
It kept most, but not all the sweat off my eyes. Apparently I also sweat via my eyebrows or something. Not perfect, but at least I could see where I was going for once.
Only improvement I'd make is to add a little downspout and filter so one could recycle one's water and electrolytes a la the Stilsuit in Dune. Otherwise, it does the best it can.
| | Better than Most by J. Dobier (Saint Paul, MN USA) 4 Stars October 01, 2009 I've used this product for two years now and think it works pretty well...certainly better than anything else I've ever used to keep sweat out of my eyes. I use it for bicycling, running, tennis, hiking, playing with the kids, etc. I sweat a lot and it's been helpful. That being said, it's not the perfect solution. I find that it eventually slides down to my ears, interferes with my glasses, and gets annoying enough that I need to stop and adjust it. Also, as other people have mentioned, my glasses still get some perspiration on them. I'm not really sure where it comes from--runs over the top of the gutter, sweating under the band, coming from the bows of my glasses, or somewhere else. So, I still have to occasionally take off my glasses and wipe them clean.
I lost my sweat gutr a few weeks ago and have been missing it, so I'll probably order another one.
| | Sweat Gutr and Golf by William L. Johnson (Charlotte, NC) 5 Stars September 26, 2009 I bought 2 of these a couple of years ago to keep sweat out of my eyes (I wear glasses) while running on a treadmill and around the neighborhood. Fantastic for that! I visited my family in South Florida in May; average temp in the low nineties and humidity at 80-90%. We were going out to play a round of golf in those conditions and I wanted to keep the sweat (salty water) out of my eyes and off my glasses. If you have ever wiped perspiration off your glasses with a handkerchief, you know that the salt gets spread all over the lenses and it's like walking around in a fog after that. BTW, ice water or a small ice cube seems to remove the salt from lenses just fine. Back to the golf; I put my sweat gutter on and pulled the back of it outside my golf cap (looks like a baseball cap). Played 18 holes with the humiture at or above 100 degrees and never had to wipe my glasses once. It is visible but not much. Vanity may rule but I'm not that vain. The perspiration that the gutr collects drains out the sides and down my temples. Having read other reviews, if you have a large head (hat size 7 3/8 or larger, it could drain into the corner of your eyes. Everything I've used it for is basically an upright activity. Those trying to use it while biking could end up with overflow that doesn't function like it does for my activities. The gap that exists between the bottom of the band and one's eyes does get perspiration on it but that small area is easy to handle with a microfiber cloth I carry in my golf bag. If your activities are upright in nature, this thing really does work. I just bought 2 more to keep in the golf bag. Cleaning is very easy. I put mine in a mesh bag, put it in the washer on gentle cycle and when it's done, hang to dry.
