EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description As Bells most popular helmet on both road and mountain bike circuits, the Sweep features 20 vents and Bells new fit system, Twin Axis Gear. Those vents get air moving over your head whether you fly along the pavement at 30 miles per hour or slug uphill on technical singletrack barely going faster than someone can walk. The Twin Axis Gear system not only lets you dial in your fit but also lets you adjust where the system sits horizontally on the back of your head so you get max comfort. An internal skeleton reinforces this svelte helmet like rebar fortifies concrete, so you get maximum protection at a light-as-a-feather weight. A removable variable-position-visor comes standard with the Sweep. |

| Great Buy by Bryan Knight (Texas, USA) 5 Stars July 06, 2009 This is a great helmet. I owned an old (6+ years old) Bell, and I have always been a Bell fan. This helmet is extremely light, has an amazing fit, and very easily adjusts to get a great fit on my head.
I love the style of the Sweep R as well.
| | Can't go wrong by trentula77 5 Stars December 16, 2008 I love this helmet. I use it on road rides and mtn rides. Great ventalation keeps my cool during long hot rides. The helmet fits great and I dont even notice its there. Its a very tough helmet.....it has taken a beating a few times during some hard crashes on the mtn bike and absorbed the shock from the blow to my head and examining my helmet I couldnt even tell anything happened other than a minor scratch of the paint. I love this helmet so much I bought it in a different color.
| | A helmet with ventilation! by J. LaCoss (Los Angeles, CA USA) 5 Stars September 30, 2008 I ALWAYS overheated with 70s-vintage helmets (up to that last time I got hit by a car) and was reluctant to wear a brain bucket as they really killed my enjoyment of riding.
I don't fantasize about the Tour de France any more, but I DO take notice of the helmets they wear.
Biking to work meant getting back on the bike after a 30-year hiatus. I decided that the "extra" bucks to protect the ol' maraca was a worthy investment, so I checked the range of helmets available without price as an object. I selected the Bell Sweep R as a compromise between cost - it's easy to spend a LOT more - and ventilation performance, and have been most happy.
It fits my head well (I'm a big boy, and I wear a BIG hat) and the ventilation works extremely well. That up-turned back end (a DA in 50s-speak) is key to creating vacuum to pull air through the hat, and it works great.
One complaint - I REALLY wish the straps were about 2" longer. I'm almost at the end of it, and it still pinches a bit when I turn to see what's creeping up on me.
| | helmit by B. Hamway 3 Stars May 19, 2008 Since I have a big head, I ordered a large size, which was too big.
I needed a medium. Returning the helmit was easy but I was upset that I had to pay for shipping.
Refund was quick
