EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Titan is back! And it has brought along a few hundred of its friends!
Titan is a full-out monster slug-a-thon, in which players must be prepared to sacrifice their creatures to cause maximum damage to their opponents. Players take the role of the Titan, and roam the board attempting to recruit bigger and badder monsters to fight for their legions. But just as your own army grows, your opponents themselves will be seeking the clash of battle, and there can be only one true Titan!
Titan is played on a main gameboard, where armies are recruited, and positions set. When two armies meet, the action transfers to a battleboard, where the opposing forces battle for position and power. Only the strongest monsters will survive, bringing both points and glory to their Titan. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 3 reviews)
| Same as it ever was, but Better Visually by Ballpark Frank (Garland, Texas USA) 5 Stars August 20, 2009 Functionally, this is the same "A-List" Game that was marketed by Avalon Hill back in the Late 1970's-Early 1980's. However, there has been the addition of several game aids that have made important improvements to the original game, such as a Score Board, and Terrain Type "Cheat Sheet". These make game play much easier. Additionally, and most importantly, the New Artwork has made the game very stunning in appearance. All in All, It's FANTASTIC!
| | Kiss your weekend goodbye by J. Shurin (London) 5 Stars August 06, 2009 Another Avalon Hill weekend-absorbing classic.
Players push tiny stacks of cardboard beasties around a hexagonal board, chasing down one another's 'Titan'.
Cardboard beasties turn into more cardboard beasties by recruiting their kin. Battles are resolved on additional gameboards - one for each type of terrain. (A lot of trees died to make Titan). The rules are deceptively complex - the vast bulk of the box makes it look like a complicated game, but the core mechanics are surprisingly easy (leaving lots of brain-space to fret over strategy).
| | Well done remake of a classic by C. Hicks 5 Stars July 17, 2009 When I got my Amazon package, my first thought was "WOW, this is heavy! I wonder what else is in here besides the game?" Well, it was simply the game. The game is built very sturdy (hence the weight) and has beautiful artwork. It is clearly designed to take serious use and hold up. It is much sturdier than the original Avalon Hills version.
Titan is a game people will either love or hate. It is an excellent recruit and fight strategy game. It's weaknesses are that it can take several hours to play through a game and that if you die early on, well, tough luck-- you can watch every one else for the next few hours. It's not really a game for the casual gamer, but great for those really into gaming.
All in all, I would say that this edition is a very worthy remake of Titan and well worth the cost to those who like this game or this style of game.
