EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Choiceworks is a learning tool that uses a combination of 3 structured boards, visual images and built in choice making opportunities to effectively help children complete daily routines (morning, day & night), understand & control their feelings and improve their waiting skills (taking turns, not interrupting). The included companion books help teach your child about their daily schedule, dealing with transitions and managing their feelings.
"The ChoiceworksTM Visual Support System provides exactly the kind of communication support that enables children to follow routines, make choices and demonstrate appropriate behavior. This system is a fabulous tool to help children participate more effectively with greater independence." Linda Hodgdon, M. ED, CCC-SLP Author of Visual Strategies for Improving Communication
"So many children are challenged on a daily basis in participating in and understanding social situations, and in regulating and expressing their emotions. The ChoiceworksTM Visual Support System is a well designed, high quality system for supporting children, their parents and professionals in daily routines and activities. It is an essential "transactional support" that is consistent with practices we have developed in the SCERTS Model."
Barry M. Prizant, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
"While designed with families in mind, the ChoiceworksTM Visual Support System would also be a wonderful addition to a child's school program, since it serves to remind parents and educators alike that we shouldn't just react to difficult situations- we should respect, teach, and support the child through them. The Choiceworks Visual Support System provides an ideal way to do just that!"

CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 5.0 based on 7 reviews)
| Great product, with three minor small design complaints by Autsim tested, Mother approved (Grand Rapids, MI) 5 Stars February 28, 2009 My 6 year-old son with Autism loves this system. He looks forward to creating his schedule each morning, and loves being able to make his own choices for rewards. There are only three small design issues I have with this item.
First, because there is one stand and three boards, you either switch boards constantly, or have the other two sitting somewhere else. I found this to be less efficient, and hot glued magnets on the back of the orange and green boards so that they can stay put on my fridge door, and my son can reach them. The stand with the schedule board hangs nicely on the mounting hardware provided.
The second issue I have is with the timer which comes on the orange board. Not only was the battery difficult to replace, but it has no on and off button, so it stays on all the time. I have already gone through one battery in just a couple weeks. These little batteries are a pain to change out, and I chipped off a piece of the back plastic trying to pry the dead one out. I do like it's magnetic component and clip component, however, and it's easy use makes it perfect for kids to use.
Finally, because the graphics only come with a Caucasian male child, it may not connect visually with children, especially who are autistic, who are not Caucasian, or who are female.
Overall, I love this product, and would recommend it even to parents of younger children who may not have behavioral issues, but who benefit from visual aids. I look forward to the next phase of this product, and maybe even a release of additional graphic magnets, for things like traveling, grandparents, church, the movies, etc.
| | The tantrums stopped by J. Walker 5 Stars March 05, 2008
This system has made the world of difference for our family. My boys now know to check the schedule to know what to do. It's the first thing they do in the morning. We use the waiting board for video games, trampoline time and new toys. When the timer beeps, the boys give up the item so the other can have a turn. The meltdowns are over!

| | Outstanding visual tool for my 6 yr old son with ADHD-C by M. DeLouis (Southborough, MA USA) 5 Stars January 29, 2008 My son's feels that he has control of his mornings and evenings by easily setting up the wonderfully designed pictures for his daily schedule of activities. Gone are the tantrums because we no longer have transition issues because he follows the visual queues that he set up. LOVE IT! Let us not forget the other boards that help kids learn patience/waiting and choices. Again, we seem to have reduced the tantrums and outbursts because he is the one in control using the boards. The product is very sturdy, colorful and everything fits together for easy travel or just for storing. Overall, excellent product!! Why did it take so long for something to be developed to help our kids with ADHD, ADHD-C, autism, PDD, etc.. Thank you BeeVisual!
