Product Description
Grades 2&up. There are only seven pieces in this puzzle, so it should be easy. Right? Guess again! Sixty puzzle cards show 60 three-dimensional structures for players to replicate using the seven pieces. Each of the pieces, based on three or four connected cubes, is unique. One is an L shape, another a T, and they get more complicated from there. If a player is stumped and can't figure out how to build the Long Wall, the Snake, or the Bad Dog, there are helpful clues on the back of the cards. Players also can use the pieces to invent their own structures. Originally known as the Soma Cube, Block by Block is an excellent way to develop and refine spatial perception skills. Includes drawstring bag for storage.

Great Fun for the Engineers of the family by Stinker's Mom 5 Stars

We got this for my husband for Christmas, last year. He is an engineer and loves this puzzle. It is a challenge and some puzzles are easier than others. Younger children may become frustrated, but there are various levels.

Great travel toy and pretty challenging by P. Y. (CA) 4 Stars

I was looking for a puzzle that had a lot of different challenges. This provided that and was small enough to take anywhere. It's great for the mind, but I do think that one tends to solve the puzzles but just randomly placing the blocks in different positions instead of actually sitting down and thinking how each block should be placed. Overall though it's a great game to pass the time away.

Hard than it looks by Florida Mom (Wellington, FL United States) 5 Stars

After reading some reviews of this toy on another website I decided to buy it for my son, who is turning 8 in 2 months, for a trip we were taking. The first puzzle had us stumped and we needed to use the hints on the back. This game is much harder than it looks and while my child likes to try to do it, I think it is better suited for older kids. He still likes to play with it and we use the hints on the back for help. I consider myself fairly intelligent and even I have a tough time with this.

Improves your visual-spatial skills! by N. Reader (USA) 5 Stars

I ordered this for my kids, but my husband and I have enjoyed solving the puzzles, too. I also recommend Square By Square, our family favorite.

so simple yet really, really, hard by third time mom (Naperville, IL United States) 5 Stars

We bought Block by Block after owning and enjoying Shape by Shape. While I needed the clue cards at first for Shape by Shape, after a few cards I was putting those puzzles together without any peeks at the clues. Block by Block though has baffled me though. It's enough of a challenge to just try to follow the hints through and to try to build the elegant structures from the hints. If I were to have a complaint it is that the hints are somewhat hard to decipher. I'm beginning to get the hang of it but they could have been more easily read if they were drawn up differently. Maybe if they were color coded or something. My 10 year old has a hard time using the directions to assemble the structures on her own. Still fun and very challenging for adults.
