It seems like it is a good system but my young son lost interest after we tried it a few days. He is hyper and energetic and only learns from using personal interests.

I bought this for my nine-year old, along with some books including the World Geography book & cartridge. I specifically wanted her to learn about geography. This is a great product and the World Geography title in particular is really good. In just a day or two, my daughter knows all the North and Central American countries, and is now onto Asia.
The Quantum Pad was discontinued, but you can still find it for sale online, along with the books. Both Leappad books and Quantum pad books work on both the Quantum Pad and the Leappad, however, I believe the Quantum pad books -- which are aimed at 8-11 year olds -- are being discontinued along with the Quantum Pad. It's too bad, the Quantum Pad and the books are really great. They are not a replacement for reading and traditional learning, but they help make learning fun.

It's a great learning device/game for kids! But if you have the money buy the one that uses all of the cartridges/books or you'll spend a lot of money upgrading!
