| | neptune had a hole in it and won't hold air by Y. Sexton (louisiana) 1 Stars September 19, 2009 the product is every colorful and easy to use. The quality of workmanship in not so hot.
| | Very cool toy, but in 2009 they are smaller and thinner than 2006 by Arianne (san francisco) 4 Stars July 24, 2009 I bought these for my boy on his 2nd birthday. They have been the #1 toy in our house for the past 18 months and they didn't start to pop for little over a year after we bought them - and we were very rough with them. Standing today are the smaller planets. So I decided to buy another box to replace them and well, the quality is definitely different - the balls are all smaller than they used to be, by 5% or so. Although the color is still vivid, you can tell there is a difference in quality of the ball. I blew up mars yesterday (using them as potty training gifts) and it's been partially deflating over night . I still had the old box and the packaging did not change. Are they still worth [...] the money? Yes - absolutely. My favorite toy ever.
| | Sizes Are All Wrong by Mary E. Reid (Dallas, TX) 3 Stars July 07, 2009 Product was not as described. Planets were supposed to be to scale, but they were not even close. The sizes of the planets were wrong in relation to one another (were bigger than when they should have been smaller than another planet).
This is not very useful for education. I don't expect the sun to be to scale, because that wouldn't be practical, but I would like the planets to be close to scale. That's why I bought it in the first place. This one went in our Goodwill box, because it was too late to return by the time I opened it.
I wouldn't even recommend this for decoration, since it gives false info. For instance you wouldn't put a mislabeled map of the world in your kids room, would you? They'd learn from it, but the info would be wrong. Same thing with this set. Planets are not labeled (so teacher can quiz kids on this).
Nice try. If only they would take this to one more revision.
| | Awesome solar system! by S. Burg (Castle Rock, CO) 5 Stars June 17, 2009 My 6 year old son is fascinated with the Solar System. He picked this set off of Amazon. It was more expensive than the other sets available but we are very happy with our purchase. The package arrived a day early which was impressive. We ended up hanging them (all but the humongous sun) from the ceiling in our playroom with thread and stick on hooks. They look great!
