Purchased the Leapster in November for Christmas last year for my five year old son despite some of the negatives reviews I read. My son used his Leapster for 4 hours before it shut down and never worked again. By the time I read the warranty, 2 months later (we moved and took a vacation in that time) it had expired per the manual. Six months later (I didn't want to just throw it away) and I find out from a friend that there is an extended warranty that they don't tell you about. Called, shipped my defective unit out at my expense for a replacement. The replacement lasted only two hours longer before it also died. Called the company again, but the extend warranty has expired. Yes, I did everything they asked...new batteries, wiped the battery connections, etc... Also, my son is VERY good with his toys and I even let him use my laptop and the wii. Never have we had a problem with any of his toys before. WILL NEVER BUY ANY LEAPSTER AGAIN. Now I'm out over $100 or more for the cost of the leapster and all the games we bought for it that he never got to play with.

My little girl had one when she was 3, she is 8 now. I handed it down to my little boy at 3 and it and the games still worked untill a mishap. but it lasted for a long time and 2 kids.

I bought this for my great grandsons, age 9 andn 5 and they have not put the toy down since receiving it. Very great toy for learning and having fun as well. I would say it is great for any child this age group.

I can't easily rate this game, it was purchased at some distance from the recipient, our grandson (4,500 miles) and all I can say is that it was something on his wish list, it arrived on time and presumably in good condition, we'll only get to have a demonstration in December when we go over for Christmas.
