| Puts the fun back in learning by Shuree D. Munden-Wagstaff (Southern California) 4 Stars June 02, 2009 Here is a fun way to introduce reluctant learners to science. Probably works well with willing learners too. The kids had a lot of fun with this and I would recommend it as a gift for any kid.
| | A compromised 3-star rating: parents say so-so, child says yay by Cato the Elder (Charleston, SC USA) 3 Stars March 22, 2009 From a parent's perspective, wow, what a bad deal. Someone is making a killing here charging 19.99 for a bit of sugar, some gelatin, a balloon and 4 cotton swabs, etc. The "science" experiments were underwhelming from the adults' point of view. Also, not really gross or disgusting. There is also a bit of prep time involved for the experiments involving gelatin. But from a kid's perspective? My 5-year-old daughter thinks it's awesome. She really enjoyed coming up with ideas for germy things to put in the petri dishes. And making the bloody scab. So far that's all we've done, but she's psyched for more. So, while I think the price point is out of line for what's offered, I will probably buy another kit at some point (but on sale) because my daughter likes it so much. She is very proud of her experiments and she gave the kit a five out of five for fun.
| | review by Drew Palmer (detroit,mi) 4 Stars January 11, 2009 I got this for my 10yr autistic son.He did mostly by himslef. Direction are easy.Had good materials. Not a lot of educational info tho.We had to use web.
| | a boy's dream by Barbara R. King 4 Stars January 11, 2009 It's all what little boys want to do; know about the yucky stuff but it also teacheswhere that stuff comes from or how it is made.
| | Dollar's worth of stuff IN the box...save your money by Busy MO3 (East Coast, USA) 1 Stars July 28, 2008 The box is eye catching for kids, but what you actually get in the box is a joke. Included is small envelopes of sugar, yeast, red an green food coloring, and gelatin (all available at your local grocer if not already in your kitchen), a balloon, a few q-tips, and 4 plastic petri dishes. That's it. You'd be much better off saving your money and downloading experiments off the internet or reading ideas in a book. Waaaaaayyyy overpriced and not very much fun. We've had much more fun finding slime recipes and science experiments online. What a waste of $20.00.
